I have no arguement with you.......sir! I'm just stating the fact that you never have or had your car worked on by MZM. By telling everyone here that they do bad work is not kewl! To me first hand experience will determine if I go to a shop or tuner and not by some internet gossip.

Milo, the term argument in other words means debate. In old Greece, an argument was merely a discussion between two individuals in search of knowledge. When there are two perspectives, than it's an argument.

Now with that being said...re-read. I have personal experience with them, but after various dialogues with the man himself opted to not have the work done. You can find out a lot about someone and their work ethic/knowledge from how much bull**** comes out of their mouth. They think that customers don't know **** from shinola and then attempt to spew B.S. to people in efforts to sell their own stuff, overcharge on their tunes, and etc. I only ask questions I know the answers to most of the time. I'll leave it at that.

Further reinforcement of my decision was when I spoke with people that had the work done and wished they hadn't.

But like I said--if you like them--good for you. I'm sure the original poster has already gotten some work done and figured things out for himself. I honestly didn't realize it was such an old thread.

Money orientated, overpriced, and overhyped. Why pay $600-800 for a tune?! There is no logical reason for this. You don't even need to go to them for numbers because there's another 4 wheel dyno in New Braunfels.
To be honest with you I've never had my Evo worked on by MZM. I've know of a few members in this forum that are very happy with MZM and others that are not. My only issue was that you would make such a wild and crazy statement but you never had your car service or tuned by them. I would never spew out a ridiculous statement like that to any shop without any first hand experience.
So good day to you sir, for I am finish with this debate.

I'm tried very hard to stay out of this, but alas, I can not. I'm not a "fanboy" of any shop or tuner in this country. I've had work done by various individuals and shops in and around Texas since I purchased my car in 2003. I have purchased parts from vendors and tuners from around the country and have interacted with them by phone, mail and email. There has not been one shop that I did not have a problem with at one time or another. The difference has been the shop (or tuners) desire to make things right by the end of the transaction.

Having said all that, I will continue to use MZM for tuning and install work as long as I have my car. They have always treated my car with the utmost respect and care while it was in their hands. Many of you have seen my car in person. If there is one individual that thinks the work done on my EVO was shotty or thrown together I invite you to call me out right now! My car starts everytime and runs with power. It doen't knock, hiccup or fart weather on pump or race gas. The quality of their work has landed me an article in DSport Magazine as well as several first place trophies at the car shows I've entered. Is MZM the "cheapest" place in town? Hell no, but do you really want your car worked on by the cheapest? Have they ever tried to sell me something that I didn't want? Never! They have talked me out of many foolish whims during my ownership. Do I argue sometimes with the staff? Absolutely, but we remain friends to this day.

When it comes down to the nut-cutting, you have to ask yourself what are you looking for in a shop. For me it was quality work and the confidence to know that my car was being worked on with pride and respect.

So...are there any good places in San Antonio to get a tune? MZM or some guy named Kevin? Thats it? Both seem questionable.

Road-tripping to Cobb - Plano seems like a good alternative.

I actually use to live in the Colony when I was younger. We lived right next to some lake. Dont really remember to many details. I think I was in the 3rd grade when I lived there.

I would have to factor in the gas for a 600 mile round trip at around 20mpg and $4 a gallon. Roughly $120 in gas for the trip plus the hotel and food and everything.

If there isnt a good selection/option for a tune in the SA area I guess I'll just leave it stock. I'd rather leave it stock then risk taking it to a local questionable tune shop. Maybe one day I'll make my way up to Plano. I have family in the Dallas area but dislike them so I tend to stay away from that side of TX

I would recommend Noribilt for a tune.

Chad did a great job on my car about a month ago. I made 320 whp on a conservative tune.

It's got a stock evo 9 turbo. The block has wiseco pistons with manley forged rods and a manley forged crank. I also have 272 dks cams, not hks. Also 1000 fic injectors.

The block is built for 600 hp easily. I just wanted 300 whp. I'd have to get a bigger turbo for more hp but like I said I was happy with 300.

I have a stock 2012 and plan on keeping it that way for awhile. Long story but I've had issues with Mitsu in the past with their quality of product and warranty work so I dont want to mod my car yet and give Mitsu any reason in the future. Plus if I ever decide to sell the car in the future I feel it will fetch more money stock over moded.

But everyone keeps saying the stock tune is poor and I should get it tuned. I emailed the tune shop you posted. If they dont email me back then o well I guess. How much do they charge? Would you recommend getting a tune on a brand new stock Evo?
