Kingpin Performance
Me and a friend have had all our work done at Alamo Auto Sports in Arlington and have never had a problem with them. Im talking complete engine builds tunes everything. Some people may say other wise but you might want to go up there and just chat with Brice or George and see what you think.
If you are looking into getting your ecu reflashed, I'd give Kevin a shot.
As for Kingpin, I have to say Adam is great guy, but I decided to no longer do business with them. Here's the readers digest version of what happened:
I took my car there to install a TT 50trim turbo kit. We ran into alot of fitment issues and they did alot of custom fab work to make it work, all of which looked great. Things like the downpipe, intake, and lower intercooler pipe were some of the problems they had. Anyway it took a while to get done, but Adam was very good about keeping me updated. Once I picked the car up it was tuned for 30psi on meth, and I checked the tank before I drove it to make sure there was plenty. What I thought was a half full tank was just a shadow and it was practically empty.
The odd thing is that my smc kits low fuel light wasn't on, so made several full throttle runs at 30psi on pump gas. The next day I noticed a little blue smoke from my exhaust and I thought I must of hurt something.
All I know now is the motor is fine, the blue smoke was coming from an oil return line from the turbo being kinked and was leaking oil into my DP causing the smoke. Kevin did some data logging for me and the car was knocking real bad at 5500rpm+. (this time with meth in the tank
)
Right now the car is at Jotech and I decided to go all out with it this time.
Ams 2.3 short block, Ams race head, GT35r, HKS V-pro, and all the supporting mods. It should be alot of fun, and the car should be ready sometime this month.
I would like to say that there are no hard feelings between myself and Kingpin, and I would never want to come across as bashing them. When I thought the motor was blown they offered to fix everything at cost, and gave me a very low estimate to replace the motor.

I know that NTEC members are thoroughly acquainted with Alamo's work. Doing business with them is like playing Russian Roulette...except there are five bullets instead of one
We have had many major issues with them on everything from clutch and cam installs all the way up to radical engine builds. Honestly, I'm a little unsure how they are still in business...almost makes me want to own a shop again if you can run it that badly and still make it.
All this crap going on with shops is one of the reasons why it's great to see people doing more of their own work. As for shops around here, the only place I feel we can put trust at this time is Jotech.
