evo vs. hail
that WAS weird, the day's clouds and drizzle had passed, I had put my top down, and was laughing at the weather men and then an hour later *BAM* the evo was twenty miles south and faired well..

i wonder what's the best way to handle this...my insurance company gave me their repair places which was vandergriff collision and texan ford over in arlington..any of you guys know if they're any good? i'm thinking that or have them send over and appraiser and look at my car...there are other smaller dings all over the hood, roof, trunk, and door panels...so i'm not so sure if i should go do the i'm gonna find my own shop to hook me up with cf hood and trunk route coz i'm still gonna have dings/dents on my door panels/fenders, and roof...so i was just thinking of taking it to vandergriff collision and just have 'em fix my car up.
Yeah our cars are prone to hail damage. Mine was hit last year with tons of cars around and mine was the only one with damage. Total was near 8000. New trunk, hood, roof and alot of body work. I feel your pain.
Trust me..... you pay for it in the long run..... the insurance company just raises your rates.
From what I have seen and personally experienced, Service King on I-20 in Grand Prairie does excellent work. And they usually work directly with your insurance. My advise is to have Service King show you finished cars in their lot ready for customer pick up so you can see the quality of their work...I was impressed - even on difficult dark metallic colors like had them repair.

i forgot to mention there was a brand new white sti parked where my evo was before i moved it to the parking garage...owner never went out to move it, probably still walking around the mall at the time. i don't think that sti did well against the hail ninjas...
Sorry to see the damage man. Hail is serious business. I'd say it's probably better that you got one big dent than hundreds of little ones though. It will probably be an easier fix.
But yeah, hail is moving by the time it get to the ground ... a chunk of ice accelerating a 9.8m/sec2 for a few thousand feet ... scary to think about. There was some hail here in AL too, but I haven't heard of any damage to the Evos here. It wasn't quite as bad though ... the hail was about the size of a dime up to a quarter.

I freakin hate hail, part of the reason I got the other car. The Evo was parked in the garage during the storm and my Corolla was outside off Knox/Henderson, but they didn't get any hail.
My experience in the past is that you take the car to get the estimate for repairs done, they cut you a check, and then you're on your own.
My Contour SVT got hit with hail, they appraised it for like $4500 worth of repairs/replacements. I got someone to do paintless dent repair for like $300 and kept the rest. So, depending on how they handle it, new parts could be in your future.
And, my rates did not increase because of the damage.

cool. that's good to hear. does that pdr really work? i mean, no marks or anything noticeable? i'm thinking of considering that if that's the case...except for that one part where my paint chipped off...
