Texas Region SCCA Auto #3 TMS May 6th
Texas Region SCCA Auto #3 TMS May 6th
We had a pretty good Evo turn out at the last event SCCA auto with a bunch of cars from Don Herring (Don actually ran in the event in a new Lancer), Paris (Sara), Ken, Mark's car, Jim, and myself. I saw a few others spectating as well.
Well for this next event, I want to see even more! If you are even thinking about trying out autoxing, this event and this event location is the one to go to. It's held at the "bus lot" at Texas Motor Speedway. This surface is butter smooth sealed asphault and is VERY good on tire wear. It's the perfect opportunity to come out and try the sport without ruining your street tires. Did I mention that Don Herring is paying a $50 contengency to any
that wins their respective class?
You will need to sign up for that ahead of time and the information for that is on the Texas Region SCCA website.
You can either pre-register on-line or do a walk-up registration the morning of the event.
To pre-register go here: http://autocross.com/texasregion/ - look at the top right-hand side of the page and click on "Registration Open". That will send you to the DLB Racing webpage. You will then need to create an account and then it will take you to the Texas Region Event #3 May 6th event. If not, just go to the May calender and under Sunday May 6th click on the notepad icon next to the Tex(AX) event. You can then pay through Pay-Pal or a credit card.
If you want to just walk up the morning of the event, here is the daily schedule:
(All times are Approximate)
Registration & Tech 7:30AM-8:30AM
Novice Walk-Thru 8:40AM
MANDATORY Drivers Meeting 9:00AM
First Heat Cars to Grid 9:15AM
First Runs Start 9:30AM
Trophies at conclusion of runs 4:30 PM
I'd really recommend to everyone (pre-registered or not) that you arrive no later than 7:30-7:45. That way you can have plenty of time to get signed-in, your car ready and teched, as well as time to walk the course multiple times.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try and help you out.
I hope to see a big NTEC turn-out! To try and entice you even more, here's a video of the last event as seen from the passenger side door handle http://autocross.com/video/kenny36.3.wmv

Here's a link to some pictures from last weekends event: http://donherring.info/pictures/auto...autocross.html
Maybe this next time you will run it in the event? I just checked and that car is classed in H-Stock. Now if you do get hooked on the sport, that new lancer could be a real sleeper in that class. I know Don had only good things to say about. Image if you added a set of sticky tires. If/when you take the plunge, all you really need for stock class is to pick up another set of wheels (same size as factory) and some sticky R-compound tires to be competitive. Besides that you might go back later and consider some upgraded stock-type struts/shocks and possibly a cat-back exhaust but that's about it for the class. Really if you think about it, stock class is much cheaper

That was one beautiful car! If only the IX SE had come in Electric Blue.

That Lancer will rule H-stock! I couldn't believe how good my time were with 100% stock car stock tires fresh off the truck. I'm about as poor of a driver as you'll find and was still able to put up good times in the 08 Lancer!

I hope to see everyone there. Oh yeah, how do i get to TMS??
