You live in SA? I am not sure who down here could do cams for a good price. I do know kevin said he can do the cam install for an extra 150 (if I understood him right) which I think is a great deal on top of the good price for the tune. If we can get this set up I would like to have him tune my car and install the cams.

As far as the tuning is concerned, I think my time line might be a bit unpredictable to say for certain if/when I'd be able to do it in July. My gut instinct is telling me that chances are that I won't be able to. One of the things that caught my attention is that KevinD does installations. Is this true? If so, I'd like to wait until I bought a few more items and get everything (installation, tune, etc.) all done at the same time. So, I think I'll more than likely have to schedule a drive to Dallas and spend an entire day with you. I understand that there's a certain "$150" price for installation. Is that only for a cam installation? What are you willing to install other than cams and how much would that cost? The conversative tune is what I'm looking for. By the time I come home from Iraq for good, I'll have all of the items listed in my signature. I'm a bit concerned as to getting tuned with methanol, alcohol, or windshield wiper fluid (a separate topic entirely). I'm looking at having a pretty high-spirited stock turbo combination. I know this was a lengthy post but I'm just trying to cover all of the bases.

that is correct, the cam install is 150. do it right before tuning the car to make sure your getting the biggest benefit from them.

So anybody want to try and do this for maybe july/august. Gives people time to get their parts or funds in order. I mean this is a good deal and this summer might be the only chance for me personally to get tuned. Just trying to see if anyone else is interested in this.

Maybe someone else could shoot some dates out.

i charge 200 for a full tune locally, and if i travel it will be a little more (250). sense it is an aem, it would normally be more, but it sounds like the car was already setup for the aem, and you just need the tune tweeked a bit. if thats the case, then i'll stay with my usual 200 for the tune.

are you running it on pump, meth, C16?

also, for the time frame its looking like quite a few people will be needing work and or tunes in july, so thats when i'll be making the trip. no dates exactly yet, but if that time frame works for you, name a weekend and we'll see what other people think. when it gets a little closer to july, we'll hopefully come to a consensus.

I know a couple people that can do it, and you can do it earlier than just before the tune if that works out better for you. You can drive around normally all day long with no ill effects, just don't go redlining are racing or anything until you get tuned. I only let one person touch my car in San Antonio for certain things, and another for other things. You can PM me on it if you want some contact info.

Edit: Only offering the info as a friendly gesture to another local EVO driver--if it works out better for you to install them earlier than the last minute.

I guess that's the most important thing for me as well...trusting people to work on my car. I'm not the most knowledgeable by any means when it comes to turning wrenches but I understand the technical aspect of things and I can conceptualize how I want my car to look. But again, I need someone that I can trust to make the vision come to pass and have the confidence in them to troubleshoot anything that may come up in the future. Kevin, so far I see that there are many people here on the forum that you have built trust with and that speaks volumes in my opinion. I'll be home for leave from IRAQ...that's right...IRAQ in a month and I have several parts that need installing but I'm not trying to do that at the expense of spending time with my family. I may have to wait until the January time frame, schedule a weekend to come up to Dallas, spend a few days in a hotel, get the parts installed with a nice tune, and call it done. That's where my head is at this point.
