Frisco is actually a pretty safe spot since it's pretty close to everything. North Carrollton is also a nice area with some good prices. Valley Ranch and Coppell used to be really nice areas but are still pretty decent but some of the areas over there are on the higher side. If you're looking to buy a house shoot me a PM. I work at Countrywide and can get some pretty good deals. I live in an apartment right now at Park and Preston and I can't begin to tell you how much I love this area! Everything is so close and clean. The good thing about Plano is that they have trash cans at most intersections so that cuts down on the littering and such.

Awesome, thanks for the info. The company that contacted me for employment is Countrywide. How are they to work for?

[QUOTE=TheDean;4377953]Hi,

I have been contacted by a company in Plano, TX for an interview. It sounds interesting so I am doing a little investigating on the Dallas area. I have never been to Dallas, so I really have no idea what I would be getting into haha.

Try to get to Saltgrass steakhouse when you're down there. Good stuff!

Good thread.....

I'm looking to moving to Dallas also. I have lots of friends who have moved there from NYC and they are doing well there....

I'll be there in October, over columbus day weekend. Hopefully if there is an EVO meet going I can crash it in my Hummer H3 rental

No doubt, but I think he's looking for a house, unless you're talking to someone other than the OP. I looked into those apartments, just couldn't find one with a garage for the Evo.

Oh Snap! I forgot about the Legacy Town Center. That area is very p1mp. I'd wonder if you could get a garage space down there though. You would have everything else though including the beautiful Texas ladies (yea, it's in the water down here )

As far as the SG/TLC cheese cake, I'd recommend the Jack Daniels Pie covered in Blue Bell ice cream instead

Are there any good looking spanish women down in texas? cuz when I was there all I saw was white and black girls, and a few asians here and there...

My buddy took me to an apartment complex where a lot of singles live and I got to see that almost off of them have garage spots....

I think when i move there I want to rent an apartment in a good area (low-crime, no trash area) with a 1 car garage.... save up my money a bit and buy a house.....

Greatest thread ever!

I actually have a job offer from my company to move to Dallas. Work would be be on the south side of the city, NAS Dallas. I was there last weekend, and I loved it. I guess I'm looking for places to live. Grand Prairie and Arlington look close, but ideally I would like a newer development and an acre or so of land. I've done a Realtor search, but I'm not sure what areas would be good to look at. Obviously I'd like to know:

where are the Low crime, nice places?

how long of a commute am I looking at for said places?

BAD places I should stay away from?

Any input you guys could give me would help out. I'd consider the Plano area, but I think the commute would be a bit much (through Dallas). Not sure though. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!!

for the commute its pretty much a 45 minute to 1 hour drive from one point to another when you take the highways. Get the toll-tag, their version of EZ pass to minimize wait time in toll lines.....

during the work week I heard there can be traffic jams, so it might be ideal to find side streets to get to your job....

aside from that I have a buddy that lives in Plano/Murphy and commutes to downtown dallas daily for work... its an hour drive I think.

His wife on the other hand takes the train to work....which is good for her so she wouldnt have to get stuck in traffic.
