Moved from Bay Area, CA to Austin, TX Need Advice
As others have said, welcome to Austin. Know it's been a bit but thought I'd add some recommendations since you weren't given a lot (at least in the thread).
I haven't had a ton of experience with "reliable tuner shops that sell aftermarket parts" for my EVO but always had good luck with MZM when I used them for my FD RX7 (they can be pricey, though). For alignments, fluid changes, brake work, etc. I really like SoulSpeed on N. Lamar. The owner, Bill Kim, will talk all day about cars, track skills, and so on if his schedule allows. Unfortunately, I've had a fair bit of experience with local body shops but after taking my S2K to Jeff's Auto Body (also on N. Lamar) back in '03 I won't take my cars anywhere else and highly recommend them to everyone who asks. Of course, it's much better when the other guy's insurance is paying as Jeff's can be pricey, too. Hey, you get what you pay for, though.
Enjoy the Austin summer, I'm sure it will stop raining someday.

You left land of the Evo's(Norcal) for TX? Not much Evo support here my freind. 'Aint' no Works or Vishnu at your front door like San Fran... I'd love to have San Rafael Mitsubishi be my service dealer again. Only MNA dealer I've heard of that will let you hang out and watch other peoples cars get ECUflash'd in house, install a color matched IX bumpers upon new delivery or race alignments get dialed in and then run it in on a 4-wheel dyno. Miss the BA every day - cause I am in Houston. Austin is not that bad, coolest people/scenery/food/weather in TX for sure. Good to hear your in Hill country so you can actually still use the Momo wheel and Brembos that came on your car.

MZM does quality work, but they are fairly expensive. Their tunes tend to lean to the conservative and they are the only people in town with an AWD dyno.
Your best bet for Tuning is KevinD, but you gotta drive to DFW. For modding your car, there are enough members local that can help you with that.
Hopefully, we see you around. If you like motorsports, Texas is a great place to be. There is always an autocross going on (austin = spokes.org), roadracing at several racetracks (like MSR) and of course quarter mile tracks in San Antonio and Temple.
Local events can usually be found at texasracingscene.com or centexracingscene.com.

I heard some not so good things about MZM...That was on an Rx7 forum...saying they have a shady business and cops are there allot...personally...I want them to be good people because i am too considering to move to TX.
I moved from CA to TX due to accepted a permanent position working for the State. If you live in CA and work in the IT field you then would know that Federal, Government, and Contracting jobs are relocating to SoCal, South, and East Coast due to the rent and cost of living expense (COLA).

Austin is my home originally but I have started to notice a lot of California people moving here because of job market and cost of living. The way California people drive is a dead give-away. I had to get used to it moving from TX to Cali. When I went through DMV they told me they get 5-7 people a week moving from West coast to South.
