Evo Owners,

I just moved from the Bay Area, CA to Austin, TX and need to know if there is any reliable tuner shops that sell aftermarket parts, service EVOs (alignments, fluid change etc.., and auto paint shops.

Don't have any valuable input but I lived in the Bay for a good part of my life, and I can't imagine why you would leave for TX! If you didn't do it by choice, then I'm sorry, and I'll pray for your eternal soul. lol

I would move from the bay area to Austin in a heartbeat! I miss Austin MZM is so-so IMO. I'd presonally stay away from Pro-Tech, if they're still around. Honestly, in Austin, there are enough car freaks that you can round up some guys with pizza and beer and do whatever you want to the car.

Better and cheaper gas.
Housing is considerably cheaper.
Austin is an oasis in a desert of mindless rightwing rednecks.
It's not foggy 10 months out of the year.

I'm from Millbrae, so I consider myself a Bay Area native but Austin is looking better and better.

Alright, I can dig those couple of reasons..

But since leaving home I joined the military, and right now, even living in SOCAL, I'm around too many damn people from... those places. I really never knew how racist and ignorant people could be until I joined (having only grown up in NYC and near San Francisco), and all that stuff is pretty ****ed up... You probably have a stronger will/thicker skin to that stuff than I do. I would probably lose my mind, beat up a stranger for making some off comment, and get arrested.

thank you.

I hope to get more responses.

I moved from CA to TX due to accepted a permanent position working for the State. If you live in CA and work in the IT field you then would know that Federal, Government, and Contracting jobs are relocating to SoCal, South, and East Coast due to the rent and cost of living expense (COLA).

MZM (www.mzmperformance.com) for parts/service/dyno tuning/etc. Zeus also does good work from what I hear out of his garage and can get a plethora of Megan parts at great prices. Just shoot him a PM.

(see, I'm not just a biased MZM fanboy although I am a customer)

I think you have in your mind a stereotype of Texas and I can assure you Austin is about the furthest city from from that.

BTW I moved from Austin to SF after I finished school... both places have their plusses and minuses but if I had to choose I'd take Austin in a heartbeat.

I've lived in many places in my 30 plus years (Dubai, Singapore, Florida) but I can't think of a better place to live than in Austin. If I wasn't in Austin, I probably wouldn't live in Texas. Spdracerut can testify to that....I know he'd be on the first plane back if given the chance!

As for tuner shops, I've heard too many bad things about MZM for me to spend my money there. However, there are a lot of guys on here who swear by them, so you'll have to make your own choice. Pro-tech isn't any better but I did pick some some 3" exhaust gaskets there for $4.50 a piece when MZM was asking for $15!

I do most of installs myself but if I need help in the future, I'd get either Zeus or Mitsuorder to do it. PM either of them and I'm sure they'll help you out.
