Twisty road tour!
Twisty road tour!
Kelly and I were discussing organizing a weekend day-trip of the twisty roads either in the Hill Country or Arkansas. What we are thinking about is leaving the DFW area early on a Saturday morning and heading to the twisties. Depending on who goes and what their budget can handle, we will either come home on Saturday night or get a cheap hotel and continue on Sunday. If we decide on a day trip only, be prepared to leave DFW around 8:00 am and not return until after nightfall.
The options are Texas Hill Country, where we will explore the area west of Austin and hit all the good roads that the area is known for.
Or Arkansas, where we will take the back roads up to the Talimena skyway and stay up there for an afternoon of fun in the Ouchita mountains.
The biggest expense would be fuel, but we will guarantee lots of fun and great roads to explore. Both areas are about 3-4 hours from the DFW area, so we should see about 8 hours of seat time in the twistys.
All interested in going to Arkansas on Saturday August 18th, let me know!

Arkansas sounds great. I used to ride with my dad through there for camping trips on his cruiser when I was little.
Last year, I met one of those OK guys with this very nice WRX who said they love to run the AK mountains. His car was definitely well set up for it. He said that any time we want to come up they would join us
