All State meet anyone? Lets do it

Hey guys,

I know we haven't had one for a while. Anyone up for ideas? Lets get something going.... maybe a "Fall Car Meet''? I remember Milo from Austin setup one in the past and it was quite the hit. Lets get those ideas rolling so we could get one of these meets going.

Sounds great, but I don't think Dallas is really a central location. We've got guys on this site from the valley, Corpus, Houston, S.A. and Victoria. Some area will get lucky and not have to drive, but asking people to drive 8-10 hours to a meet will limit the overall attendance.

We always turn out huge numbers of evos at our meets.. I don't see Dallas people wanting to drive that far... IMO when were probley have a larger turn out in Dallas. If we were all going to an event/weekend auto-x, drag, road tour it would be more likely IMO. Not just for a meet. My 2 cents.

texas is just too big to make an all state meet. People will get lazy and not drive the extra mile. It would take a city some incentive to go to a meet

I absolutely agree; very few of us have been able to make out of town events, but having faced the same challenge in sailboat racing nationwide, we couldn't ignore these guidelines:
  • it doesn't have to be an either/or decision, the more events the better, sched. events in each car scene and they'll come unless the dates conflict
  • base the event in the biggest/scene if youre chasing numbers, fact is most people don't travel unless they have done it in the past. (very few first timers make events out of town)
  • promote a variety of activities, at least one will motivate a long trip
  • come on lets enjoy our favorite car with new and old friends
