Help with taking off wing from local members *pics now*

Ethan? Kelly? Anyone here...so I tried to take off my wing and realized some adhesive crap was holding it to the trunk. I was afraid of causing any damage by yanking it off. Any suggestions on how to take it off. I'm off today and tomorrow so I can meet up with anyone if they want to help me. I will try to get with Julio too and see if he can help. Please let me know soon in case they try to delete this message too.

Hmmm I was actually thinking about doing that... Ok I will try that. Now another question is that when I get another wing, where do I get that adhesive stuff to put it on the new wing...would the dealership have it?

hmm yea I think I might ask the dealership and see if they would let me in on the secret and tell me where to get the stuff. Thanks though. Kinda interested in seeing my car without the wing now.

Same here, and I just got some double sided 3m tape from autozone, worked perfect!

When I took the wing off my car the adhesive tape wasn't even that sticky but I still managed to take a bit of paint off the trunk, so I put the wing back on and traded trunks for a wingless one.

And yea 3M is the tape they use.

Dental floss or monofilament to break the bond before trying to pull the wing, heat will help. I'd advise against simply pulling on the wing - give it a try and watch the trunk lid flex.

Peeling the remainder off is the fun part - a little naptha (lighter fluid) will break down any left over adhesive and won't harm the paint.

Oh, and don't forget to unbolt it.

See this is what I am afraid will happen and yes I seen the trunk flex when I pulled on it..
And um yea, think unbolting it was the first thing that came to mind.. But I know you say cause someone has done it before...I will post a pic of it when I get it off..hopefully tomorrow, and pics of the damage on the wing.

I've heard so many people say use dental floss. That didn't work for me, it just kept slipping out of my hands. Use an exacto knife and carefully slice the tape then use some goo gone to get it off. I had no problem with paint peeling or anything when getting the tape off my trunk

goo gone is a good idea, I should have thought of that.
