Altitude in Texas?
I'm programming my JDM MAP sensor and was wondering what the altitude was in Austin? Is altitude specific to state or city or even more specific then that? I couldn't find anything, anyone have any suggestions as to what they've used successfully?
Thanks

Do you know anyway to find out for certain? And does it vary by city or is it much more specific then that?
This website has it, but I want to make sure from others as I don't know how credible this is.

so if i give you an altimeter you can set your map sensor that way? i'm asking coz i'm at work right now and i can find out the altimeter setting for austin today or the airport elevation and i can give it to yah when i come back on break again.
EXACT altitude varies way more specific than that... And depending on your area of this wonderful world, your wider range altitude can vary even more. Now, I am no genius when it comes to cars so I have no idea why you'd have to set-up any sensor for that, the ECU usually figures that all out and adjusts for the air pressure (its part of why we're slower up here in the mountains than you are closer by the sea, but also part of why we can be just as fast down at a lower altitude... the ECU figures it all out, even after getting a tune).
But yeah, depending it could vary a bunch, I only have to drive a mile or so to go up in altitude a decent bit, but I'm also in the middle of the Rockies.
Assuming you just have to be roughly close to what your main surrounding area is, it looks like I'd set it at ~600-650 if I was you.

Thanks for all the help!
I found the elevation to vary but stay under 600ft, so the setting for the jdm map is 14.4 for anything under 600 and over 500 so i'm covered.

You can log the jdm sensor with the car not running. It should read close to 0 as possible without being a negative number as that will throw some stuff off. I live in deep south texas and use a 14.6 offset.
