Houston SCCA Autox on Sat August 2nd
Just letting those that don't already know, there is a SCCA Solo II event this Saturday afternoon and evening at Gulf Greyhound Park.
This is a great event to participate in or watch. The Evo's do great for a stock car (none of us who run there have modified Evo's yet).
AS and SM classes run in the afternoon. I will probably be running at night in the ESP class (no one to watch my kid in the afternoon).
Anyone interested in racing should go to www.houscca.com and click on the Solo II link.
Other people wanting to watch and meet up, just pm me.

Sorry to hear that you might be running in ESP. AS looks pretty interesting right now. An STi will be there as well as a 911. Lookin' like my trophy hopes are dim. Should be fun nonetheless. Mostly wanted to reply to this to get some more exposure. Anybody interested should definitely check it out. That includes you ES,LS,OZ folks. That is what I started on and my wife still uses for it. Fun, fun, fun. No shame in not coming in first only shame if you don't have fun. Pretty cool to see some of these guys that really know how to drive i.e. the '94 Saturn SC2 that can get better times than cars with far more HP (including Evo's).

I don't think there are any pics or videos, but we all faired pretty decent. There were 3 Evo's running in AS, that all had pretty good times.
I won ESP later, though I had a slower time than 2 of the other EVO's. Hard to compare times though, since I ran several hours after the others, and I ran during the night, where they ran during the day.

Yeah yeah yeah, hard to compare
Just kidding. It is a different animal between night and day; it's kind of like, uhm, night and day.
Anyway I got third and a newcomer came in right behind me in 4th.
I was out of first by .633 seconds out of second by .145 seconds and beat out 4th by .066 seconds. Pretty tight race. 1st and 2nd were taken by two drivers in the same car. It was a '94 Vette that has done fairly well all year. Course was relatively long and straight in a lot of places which worked out a little better for him.
Scariest part was that the newcomer is a Scot with only 600miles on the odo. Hate to see him do so well on his first time out in the car. He said it was his first autocross but I believe he has done something similar in his homeland before. Nice guy to. Autocrosses are great places to meet some cool folks and learn a thing or too.
