I'm thinking that I'll hold off until something goes haywire, but these posts will serve to be my record of stinky clutch from the first week
Yea I really would not sweat it at all. My clutch was pretty stinky for a while and it holds fine now. I did follow the proper break-in procedure too. So I wasnt beating it up to make it stink or anything.

LOL, I did watch the lesson, pretty funny. I'm with that guy when it comes to cats, not a fan of them. Don't really need that much effort to edit out oil stains...

Wickedchimp: why didn't you hang out at the meet last night? We saw you drive through that same parking lot when only a few of us were there just a little after 7pm...

I'd still get it checked since you're taking the car to the dealership anyway for that hail ding. I know mine never smelled like that I had a faint smell for the first 100-200miles then nothing. Your clutch smelled worse last night just leaving the lot then mine did after a hard launch.

Billy the pics turned out great man. Are they in high res versions on your site anywhere? If not I might need to make a webshots album for them and slap them up there so we can get full res pics. Let me know bro ~Trent

Trent,

I will later use a lot of the photos on my site, the hi-res ones anyway. I currently have no place on my site where I have uploaded the hi-res versions of the photos. They are much to large, and many would be dooming anyone opening a thread. I was using a 10 Meg cam, and Justin was using a 12 Meg cam. Not sure if he changed his res settings to make them smaller. I didn't because I use the photos on web pages. All my photos I took at the meet are 3648x2736. If you want specific photos, I can email them to you. PM me.

I was rolling through to see if anyone had showed up yet. I was on the way to take the wife out to dinner. I was going to roll back by after dinner but after I got my belly full I got a case of the itis.

Make sure you get them to do all of the ecu flashes while you are there. My car will be at Don Herring tommorow getting a new windshield and the lastest ecu flash for the hesistation above 5000rpm. (Ahh the joys of owning a 1st gen)

I had the first flash put on last week, so it idles nicely now. I've not run it up really high yet, but it definitely glug glug glugs to 3krpm, then raped ape to 4-5k then it feels overworked (and I shift ).

It seems to be tradition for some reason to always have at least one Evo drive past a meet and not stop.

Unrelated but since there seem to have been different flashes at first I don't plan on getting this new updated flash that was just released about a week ago. I had the stutter above 5k rpm and got the newest flash pre last weeks release in April and it was supposed to be a flash for the rpm stutter. I never had idle issues of any kind and am leery to get another flash that is supposedly fixing the same upper rpm stutter because mine runs flawlessly right now and pulls solid from idle to redline. Goofy I know got the first flash as well but his first flash was supposed to fix his idle issues and did but he still has upper rpm stutter so I don't really know what to make of it.

I think that since you've got the test pipe and intake you've probably leaned things out nicely (which is likely what the flash does.

I'd subscribe to the "ain't broke don't fix it" theory at this point.

From what I was reading before though the intake only helped lean it out a little bit because of the larger MAF housing, it's definately running pig rich still, I'm 99% sure its shooting flames still and a quick blip of the throttle in the garage left soot/gas on the ground behind the car... but yeah at least I don't have idle/stutter issues at the moment and no check engine lights or misfire codes any more.

Hopefully before long I'll have my wideband and gauges in the car so that I know exactly what it's doing. I'm just waiting on better mounting solutions for the gauges to come out. I want an a pillar but none are in production yet.
