Easiest Oil Change Ever!

Just change my oil in the X for the first time, and I gotta hand it to Mitsubishi for designing the drain plug and the oil filter right next to each other. I didn't have to torque myself sideways, reach into a hot engine compartment, etc. Just had to unscrew the access panel and everything was right there. Awesome

By the way, I went fromt he stock oil to AMSOIL SSO. Supossely, the SSO oil can go up to 35,000 miles before changing under normal driving conditions. Of course I'm still gonna change mine every 3-5k cause I don't drive normal.

Also, I found that there is an AMSOIL warehouse in Arlington right next to Sixflags. If you go to the AMSOIL website and become a perferred customer, (pay 20 bucks for a year) then you get the oil at a discount. So instead of paying 12 bucks per quart, I only paid like 8 bucks. Just FYI.

Does anyone else use AMSOIL? If so, how did they like it?

I used AMSoil on my SRT and it was an awesome oil. No problems whatsoever. I also used their filter which is really expensive though.

NEGATIVE !!!!!

AMSOIL SSO CANNOT go 35,000 in a Turbo Charged Application !!

ALL AMSOIL Products recommended for Turbo Applications are good to "The Longest Drain Interval Rcommended By The OEM UNLESS Oil Analysis Is Used"

In the case of an EVO, 5000 Miles is the longest recommended Drain Interval..

Do Not Exceed 5000 Miles unless Oil Analysis confirms otherwise.

no one should take their oil's over 3-4k at least this is my reccomendation, some will reccomend 5-7 however when you know how and when you own and EVO one understands how these cars run, they run extreme specially when you are tunned and running a leaner AFR than normal, specially if you are running hot fuels like we do 116 leaded and your turning 8400rmps so you dont bounce off the limiter at the last 50ft of the 1/4 mile

Amsoil FTW at least Mobil 1

WTF did you just say?? Proper English grammar and punctuation will get you far in life. That's the longest sentence I've read on this forum in a long time. I still have no idea what you just said.

35k on a turbocharged car? That's like saying 87oct will be ok also.

Congrats on the easy oil change.

Congrats on the easy oil change.

That 35K is in many applications, BUT, as I warned, IS NOT in a Turbo Application.. Also as you noted.

Too many people just look at the big letters and forget to read the rest where AMSOIL Plainly States that it cannot in certain applications.

These can be found on the Data Sheet in the following link.

Good Lord guys, I just said that the AMSOIL says the SSO oil can go 35k before changing. I never said I was going to wait that long as I know we have a turbo car that is not driven "normally". I have every intention of changing my oil at 3k.

Yes, but your original post made it sound like you can run the SSO 35K in the EVO.

It is a 5000 mile change inteval with the SSO unless Oil Analysis is used to verify extended intervals...

For under $23.00 for an Analysis Kit it is well worth the peace of mind. I use them especially for my Bike as I go 10K on a change.
