ok, so long story very very short, i have a silver evo at my house, previous owner would be mr EVOBZ, current owner is zach. anywho zach was the unlucky recipeint to some horrible work (i'll leave names out but everyone who knows BZ, knows who did the work).
here is the background: zach calls me and tells me his car is running bad. brings it over, and definately running on 3 cytlinders. i check plugs and cylinder 4 is missing the elctrode
. i replace the plug, and a mile later, the replacement plug electrode breaks off too. by this time i know something is seriously wrong. we do a compression test, and cylinders 1-4 are both low. i was about to go on vacation for our wedding so i couldn't do much other then replace the plug again and tell him to drive very easy for a week or two until we can take the motor apart. at the same time, i hook my laptop up to the AEM and see something very very frightening! 1) knock control was turned off and the really bad part 2) 15 degrees of timing at peak torque. 3500-4500 rpm and 25psi it had 15 DEGREES of timing with no knock control

ok, so second part of the story, he had a FP whitewhich was installed with the wastegate propped open so it was laggier then my 35r. obviously thats no right. so knowing we are already in trouble with this motor, we swap it back to stock ecu to sell the AEM to start buying parts. we bring the wastegate arm back down to closed, and give it a try, 100 feet down the road the motors gives out, and here are the results:

good news is the cosworth head only needed 11 new valves, other then that it was relatively unhurt. everything below the headgasket looks like a granade hit it. even the oil filter housing was busted in half from the block seperating on that corner.

ouch sorry to here of this.. i would share the companies name of who did the work so were all aware of it.. kind of scary that i went through the same type of thing with my build to.. just sad that these "well known" companies hand out products/work like this with there name behind it.. makes no sense.. hope everything turns out good with this..

Hey at least you were able to salvage the Cosworth head. Thats good news considering what happened to the lower half of the motor. I would have thought that would have been toast also.
Bump, slightly used block.... has speed holes in it for lighter weight and added venting for cooling and crank case pressure control. Come with 1 less piston and rod for less rotating parts and faster reving!!!

Ive seen it first hand... I have seen my fair share of rods thrown through a block, but I have never seen three penetrations of the block with a single rod! This thing was a work of art let me tell you. Kevin and I pulled it out of the car, and were ready to call it a night, but couldnt cause we just had to see what the inside looked like
Piston #4 the one that kept eating plugs I think, is all melted on one side all the way through the first compression ring... it has massive detonation... the knock sensor is on there for a reason, and it will tell you in a hurry when something is wrong... WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU TURN IT OFF!!!!!!

seems like all of their motors are blowing up now-a-days
