Spokes is having another AutoX at Techridge in north Austin on Sunday, 9/21/03. Ya'll should come out and run! The only things you need to bring are yourself and your car. Loaner helmets are available.

EDIT: Oh yah, you need to bring $20 for entry fees too.

Hope you had a good time. Sorry I had to run during heat 3 to get to a soccer game at 4pm. Today was alright. It was definitely a disadvantage to run in the 1st heat.

I see both you and Zeus trophied in novice class, nice work! Too bad ya'll had to lose to an STi.

QAT-R: What kind of exhaust do you have on your car?

I'm think both October events are members only. Are any of you guys members yet?

I'm guessing that you won novice then, Treefallen?

I drove by at noon, but couldn't stay. I was supposed to pick up a friend so he could take pictures of the cars. We ended up not making it back 'til 1:30 and everyone was picking up the cones. Oh well....I'll try to make it out Oct. 5th even if it's just to take pictures.

Yes, The Spokes practice session are members only. But since this is the end of the year, Spokes gives out "great" membership discounts (talk to them). I became a member at yesterday's event for not much more than what a few of startbucks' coffees would cost (or the cost of a gallon of anti-ping Toluene ).

The event must've ended right after I left then, cuz I headed out right around 1:30 to make it to my soccer game. Trubidou, I saw you cruising by, too.

Treefallen: I think Zeus gets xylene from Sherwin Williams for like $7 a gallon. Where are you getting your toluene and for how much?

Iondine23, I am getting Toluene at Sherwin-Williams (133xx Reasearch Blvd) for around 8.50$. 7$ looks very good (does he buy it in 5 gallon containers?).

Treefallen: You could pm him and ask him. I think he said it's the SW in Oak Hill. I thought he said it was like $7 a gallon. Maybe he said $7.99 a gallon. And I'm pretty sure he said he was using xlyene.

How many miles do you have on it and how long has it been pinging for? I just picked mine up last monday and so far so good *knock on wood*.

I hear you stefano...*knock on wood*.

Listen to this: I heard it ping during the testdrive...and I wasn't pushing it crazy at all. And I took the salesman word that it was the "loose gravel I rolled over"... being a stupid human being, I believed him. No matter... who would have thought?

If you haven't noticed any detonation, then I am sure you'll be fine. It detonates audibly between 4,000 and 4,500 while hard on throttle. Its real easy to reproduce in any gear, 3rd gear is easier to spot as its "longer". Its more commonly bound to happen only once in every 5-6 runs...so close your windows and radio and listen for that distinct poping/clucking sound.

Rant...

The worst part of all of the detonation issue is Gillman's Subaru... they have tested my patience for the last 2 months. My car detonates near 100% of the time. Now that SOA officially passed the issue/solve down to dealerships...I can finally take it in for the much needed reflash.
