Evos in Texas
Here is an early welcome!
Texas is an awesome place to own an Evo in.
Plenty of track days/AutoX and meets. Once you arrive I am sure that there will be a few people who can help you wityh your vehicle inspection. I waited almost six months to transfer my licence plates and license from Cali. Don't rush into getting all of that stuff changed.

oh boy this is going to be a huge issue i can just tell... i cant just throw a stock ecu on the car.. not every year ....
what do you guys do with your cars? I know there are some crazy fast supras and vipers down there and i would bet they for sure dont have the CATS on their cars, nor the stock computers...
and isn't Dallas pretty close to Forth Worth?

Almost all the evos run stock ecu down here. For the most part your setup would work fine on a tuned stock ecu. Driveavility will be much better, starting will be better, and aside from the maf, I don't think you'll loose much power at all. Plus you'll be able to pass emissions. I'm making 500+ whp and just passed emissions legitimately two weeks ago without a problem. There are a few people who did the standalone ecu for a while (Kelly, aka devo330) hadan autronic on his. He can tell you how he got around emissions
thanks for everyone's help. The car is running on e85 ... so it was recommended to have the stand alone. I think i would rather stick with the setup i have for now, if i can get away with it...
Ill keep devo330 in mind, thanks for the suggestions Kevin.
Hope to meet some of you guys at a meet.

I tune evos with e85 on stock ecu quite often, so that won't be a problem when you decide to switch back to stock ecu  I can also set your ecu with the tephra mod so you have a pump gas tune and a e85 tune on the car, so you just hit the intercooler sprayer button and it will switch maps. Just a suggestion for when you decide to sell the aem when you realize it's a pain to pass emissions
It really does suck getting passed. I'm from Michigan too and not ever having to do anything was great. But when you get a 200 dollar ticket for expired emissions cause your car won't pass you think twice

You will have no problems on the stock computer.... there are several people that run e85 here, (normally I am included) the blend for the most part doesnt even change. And there are a lot of stations in the area.
It is very easy to get past the inspection, and I guarantee you if you convert back to the stock ecu, your car will run better, and you will have 0 issues with inspection.
We have a large evo following here, and a lot of resources.... so welcome and be sure to get out to a meet!
