Who's got the quickest Evo in Texas?
Who's got the quickest Evo in Texas?
I went to HRP last night to see what my car (evo-competition) had, what a nicely modded WRX on C16 could do, and what a particular Evo could do compared to my car. It was Import night. There were very few people there. Qucikest time I saw was a 11.5 by a race-only CRX. The next 3 quickest were alll 12.5s: RX-7, late model Civic, and the WRX on C16 and stock tires. The Evo guy I was interested in knocked down a 12.9x (.94, I think) at 107 on 93 octane, EBC, S-AFC, and custom turboback exhaust. I finally squeezed 12.88 at 105 in and STi on 93, FMIC, turboback, shorty intake, and MBC. Quicker ET, but slower trap speed. I can't wait to get some control of my A/F and timing. I think 12.5 at 108 or better can be had in the same weather. My Sti weighed in at 3326 with me in. I believe the Evo was 3340. When he gets timing management, his car will be even faster.
Sad part about the night is that most cars were of the 14-17 second variety. I don't remember more than 6 cars clocking less than 13 secounds. But there were a few that were hitting 13s with traps higher than 105. There was an SRT-4 with a fairly heavy driver doing 13.3+ with a best trap of 106. That may sound impressive, but he has a lot of mods and running C16 (evo/neon hybrid turbo, stronger WGA, exhaust, CIA, Boost control, AFC I'm sure, different BOV, other things I don't know about). I would expect better. He has done 12.9 before though. It's that one-whhel drive that's killing him on the launch.
