Tx Mile Spring 09

After going to the Mile 5 times I decided it was time for me to make some passes. I set my class to Speed Accuracy 150 mph. Well my first pass blew the doors off of that. 166 mph. I was amazed to say the least. I impressed a lot of people even super car owners. My second pass 167.036 mph. That was the last good pass. I made two more passes Friday that sucked. This is were I damaged the engine. It is now making a ticking noise. I think I lifted the head and compressed coolant. I'm not sure yet. I'll be bringing it into the shop after work and inspecting it. On the bright side my friend is letting me put my car in his trailer for the ride home. I'm also faster than a Twin T GTO, Lambo plus others. I'd like to also thank my friends Tim and KevinD for helping me get the car together.

what kind of ticking noise is it making? revving it out to 8500 on a stock bottom end at the mile? does it still run on all 4 cylinders? lifter tick? or spun bearing tick? if you lifted the head you would have oil in your coolant and coolant in your oil, oil coming from between the head and the block, or your coolant overflow will be overflowing... lets hope its not a spun bearing

p.s. great numbers!!!!! 167 on a stock turbo evo is very impressive

I'm pretty sure that I spun a bearing but will do a leak down test. I was shifting at 8k. yes it runs on all 4. i saw fresh oil but couldn't see where it was coming from. i'll look it over tomorrow.

Thanks again Kevin.

Nice mph. Can you post up more details about your setup and boost / fuel being run? Sucks to hear about your motor letting go, but many have lost them at the mile. I've thought about running but am afraid to be at wot in 5th for that long. Thanks for repping for the evo 8 and up guys

IX turbo w/ FP wastegate actuator, GSC S2', FIC 1050, E85 and the parts in my sig. I was the first CT9A to run the mile that i know of in the 3yrs that I've been going. The only other Evo is Mike Reichen and his Evo II.

Laramie thats AWESOME!! I wired and tuned a world record motorcycle that went out there and could only pull off 187 cause it ran out of brakes and the owners didn't want to put a para shoot on it, so 167 in a "four door saloon" thats impressive period! CONGRATS!

time and money will tell how I rebuild it. For sure it will be me unless I have to take the engine out. Then I will have the crank knife edged and balanced.
