Spokes Autocross this Sunday @ Tech Ridge in Austin

Come on out this Sunday and get some tire screeching done without fear of running into the cops (or other motorists)! Iodine23 has been gracious enough to let me try out his stock Evo to compare it to my WRX. It should be alot of fun. Thanks for the opportunity, Iodine23!

Hopefully there won't be any tire screeching... I'm hoping for rain! Then again, my tires are down close to the wear bars, so I better watch what I wish for.

Rain is lots of fun to run in. It'll take the race tire advantage away some, too

Thanks alot for letting me run your car, man! I had a blast in it. I actually think my car is a bit better after running them both. Of course it would have helped to have the same track conditions. I think the tires were most of the difference. You need some Azenis!

Anyway, thanks again, and you're welcome to try mine out anytime if you want.

Good job beating Ramsey out there. That was close. Then again, if I would've run in AS against Iven, I would have beat her by 0.001 seconds.

I'm sure with better tires and a dry track you probably would've liked my car more. Just keep your hand off the gearshift when you're driving.

At the fun runs after the event I managed to get a 51.1. Not too shabby.

Man I wanted to go yesterday, but I was stuck working all weekend! Did any other Evos show up?

Oh well, maybe I'll get to go next year.

chris: The track dried out fast. I was running last (4th) heat and working in the 2nd. Between the start and finish of the 2nd heat the entire grid had completely dried out. A dry line had formed on the track by the end of the first heat.

I don't know if John ever got into the ABS on his runs in the wet... and the car definitely wanted to push with the lowered amounts of grip. I hit the ABS coming down into the turnaround at the end of the runway in the dry. I guess I just like to brake late.

The next event is sometime next year. Maybe Feb? It's still to be decided. SASCA has a few events left this year if you want to get out and AutoX. Nov 23 and Dec 7. I'm done until next year. I need to buy new tires for the road, and probably pick up some rims and race rubber so I can try to compete in AStock next season.

AStock...awesome! Looking forward to this, anyone else in AStock next year? I am planning on running in that group.

Stealing this thread a little, MP5 and I went to Driver's Edge event out at TWS. Needless to say, it was lots of fun (clockwise= 138 mph on the straightaway). There were lots of EVOs and STIs...most well represented cars out there...oh and they definitely stood out performance wise

I think Rafal will be in AS. If Iven stays in then that makes 4 of us at least.

Most of the guys on here are probably already modded out of AS by now.

Chris, I was at Driver's Edge. If you want to know how that went:

I think MP5 and I did pretty well for our first time, had a blast. As to how we did ... well we both got promoted on Sunday morning and ran with the blues. We even got a chance to run solo on the 2 afternoon sessions. Needless to say, MP5 and I are going back to the Driver's Edge, we are hooked.

Oh, I had crazy Bill Kim drive my car too, I felt sick because of the stench coming from the brakes. Some of you know Bill since he used to be a national champion (ES-Porsche 944) regular at Spokes. Bill is an instructor at the Driver's Edge and the owner of Soulspeed-performance suspension/tires on Lamar in Austin. I'll be posting a summary of what Bill felt while he drove the stock STI on the track on NASIOC tomorrow (I will make sure he knows that I am writting this, so that he can bring any corrections). Bill has also driven the EVO at motorsport ranch...

Hmmm seems Rafal did it again.... I am actually looking forward to competing with him next year. Learn alot is what I'll do.
