Cold Weather

So most of the rest of the country probably already got to experience it, but the cold weather really brought some life to my Evo. When I was driving home from work on Tuesday, up Tumbleweed Hill on 2222, the Evo spiked up to 21 psi for a second and pulled the hill better than it ever has before. The temp was somehwere in the mid 30's that evening.

Also before that I decided to have a quick run off a traffic light and it felt like it was accelerating more than I ever remember. It brought a grin to my face like the first time I got to drive the car.

I had a fun gassing it the rest of the way home to watch the boost gauge hit 21psi, that's the highest I've ever seen it go. It would only hit it for a second before cutting back to 19psi, but it was still cool to see 20+ being hit.

Too bad the really cold weather is passing, last night I only managed 20psi on the same hill. Tonight will probably be back to good ole 19 again.

Must resist urges to mod car....

winters

and also, i'm wondering about the winter weather as it concerns the tires (Advans) and the CF wing. are the tires holding in the temps below, say, 45 degrees? and has anyone had a problem with the carbon fiber in the freezing temps?

I threw some sumitomo HTR+ on my evo, cuz I was chewing up the edges of the advans. They just weren't holding up to the cold weather. Not to mention it felt like I was riding a skateboard when the temp was 29 one night. Braking that night sucked too.

iodine23, I guess I need to break down and get a boost guage. I've been puting it off since I have a little one on the way! It would be awesome to see 21psi. All I know is I sure feel a difference in the car this winter. I'll hate the weather this summer, damn it.

And to make it worse I use the AC a lot on my car. Even when it's a nice day, if it's even a little humid I'll throw on the AC and just crank it up to the warmer settings on the dial. I don't think I turned the AC off for like the first 6 months I had the car.
