Texas emissions question
I've lived in Florida all my life and never had to deal with emissions testing... but now I plan on moving to the DFW area this sumer. From what I understand there is a yearly emissions test to maintain your registration. Do they perform this check by putting a sensor at the end of your exhaust or is it just a plug into your OBD-II?
I am asking because I want to run a test pipe, but would hate to have to lift up the car every year to swap back to stock.
What is everyone in TX doing?
Thanks,
Richie

if there is no sniffer test like there is in CO, but a visual check for the cat, i would just weld on the heat sheild to you test pipe. that way it looks like you have a cat and don't have to mess with it again.

Sorry for bringing this thread back but we don't have inspections in Oklahoma as of the mid-90s and I'm moving back to TX soon and bring the Evo with me.
I have a Magnus sheet metal IM so the whole EGR system was removed with the new build. Also tapped the cylinder head to put a 1/8NPT plug in where the exhaust runs to the intake to reduce heat and keep the IM spacer from melting. All the CEL codes for EGR and rear O2 sensor have been deleted from ever coming on with Tephra V7. Last, I have a resonated testpipe but I'm looking for a good high-flow cat to reduce certain irritating exhaust tones I dislike.
Is there anything I should make sure I do before getting an inspection as in my 11 years of driving, I've never had to do one.
