Damn dude... that sux

In all seriousness, best luck to you and I hope the dude in the PT dies a horrible, slow, fiery death.

You can't replace a life but you can replace a car. Sucks that your car was totaled but to survive a potentially deady accident should make you feel lucky.

The fact is life can end in a second on the highway. On my way to San Diego from Atlanta. At the Arizona border I saw accident that just occurred and had only police on the scene. It was pickup truck with entire family inside. There was ten year old boy that was dead on the side of the road. I was so shaken that I pulled off at the next exit. Life can end in instant on the highways and it comes down to making the right decsion.

Good luck with your move. I drove to San Diego from Atlanta with all my stuff cramped into my car and know it sucks to loose your car and belonings but you came out with your lifes. Moments of adversity will only make you stronger.

Best Wishes,

Snoop

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I know how truely lucky we were. Not to sound cocky or anything, but I think the others were lucky as well, considering the actions I took. We went today to look over the car again, and seeing it in person makes you really appreciate the responsibility involved in driving. I hope everyone that sees this thread and realizes that as well, if they never have before. Be very aware of what is going on around you at all times on the road. If you have never taken a defensive driving class, take one. They are worth the cost and time.

You might be able to buyback the car and try to use your time to sell the parts to help offset the cost of depreciation / what insurance is going to pay for / the higher premiums for awhile. I haven't read all there is here in this thread, but can the 18-wheeler driver testify that 'something' fishy was going on to the respect of that PT Cruiser? Did you get his name and number?

Later,

jcnel.

Buying the car back isn't really an option. Being that I am moving and need a form of transportation as soon as possible (to get back and forth to work when I finally do make it to Virginia), I will need to concentrate on that.

The driver of the 18 wheeler simply said that he didn't see the PT Cruiser hit his brakes, but he did see me "lose control" of the vehicle. His contact information is on the police report.

Sorry to hear about the car but I echo the sentiments of the other posters, You and your girlfriend made it out unscathed!!! That is something for which to be thankful.

Lately it seems that there has been so much destruction here in Florida with these four hurricanes... but we will rebuild and be stronger for it as I'm sure you will be too. After all it's just a car. (Did I just say that???)

OK it's an Evo... but there will be others.

All I can say is you were blessed, to walk away from that unhurt is sure sign someone above loves you. If I were a rich man I would buy you another evo. Im glad your okay. The car looks worse than I thought. Hopefuly everything in the long run goes good for you, but worse case your still okay and thats a best case if you ask me.

take care.
