Clutch install for Evo around Raleigh area

Well the clutch on the Evo finally took a dump on me. Now I have to baby it so much I feel like Im driving a Geo Metro. Does anyone know of a good transmission shop around the Raleigh area that has worked with the Evo or at least has worked on imports? Every place I have tried so far looked at me like I was crazy when I told them it was AWD. They have quoted me $850 and up which is horrible. Has any of the Evos in the area had an aftermarket clutch put in?

Thanks

1) Creech Imports - 872-1999
2) Duraleigh Auto Center 781-7272

I'm curious to see if Alex does it and if so, what he would charge. Last I checked he's $60 bucks/hr.

Yeah I will check with them. I didnt think they did clutch installs though. I know Jason can do a lot of stuff with Honda's but I didnt know if he did the stuff through Eurospeed.

I was going to try the ACT clutch. Its only around $500 and it should hold the power I have just fine.

Yea im not to sure if they really do clutches either. jason does fantastic work on hondas, but I dont know how much he knows his way around the evo, couldnt imagine that a clutch could vary that much though... I am often worng though im no expert

Well Honda's engines are transverse like the Evo but the problem comes in with the AWD. The transfer case adds so much extra work. I thought about doing this install myself but I decided I didnt want to kill myself.

ACT is a good call. But I'm just going with the disk (unless everything goes to hell on me)

Ok, I'm hijacking this thread? Who wants to meet in Chapel Hill (Franklin Street, W.T. Yeates Pub) for beers and to shoot the shizzle - Thursday night

RaleighEVOVIII - weekends are tough for me b/c I've got a little one (1yr 3mo). But weeknights -once she's down (8:00pm typically) I'm ready to make like a fish

I was thinking about meeting at 8:30pm, this Thursday, for a genuine pint or two - nothing crazy - we all gotta drive home... I just wanted to catch up with people and see where everyone is on their mods, bounce ideas, that type stuff.

Yeates Pub is located on Franklin St. in Chapel Hill. It is right behind "The Wicked Burrito" - the place is multicolored and has been closed down for years. Otherwise it is in between "Vespa" Italian Restaurant and the Bike Shop. It's a big parking lot - Yeates is in the back...

So here's the sign up sheet if you're interested"
