New EVO owner in NC

Folks:

A couple weeks ago I finally picked up an 03 Tarmac Black lightly modded :-) My tires should be here this week (255/40 17 Azenis) and I hope to reinstall the stock BOV tonight since my UR IC upper pipe just got in today (PO had installed UR upper IC pipe with HKS SSBOV). Once those items are taken care of I hope to put some miles on the car <grin>

Any other EVO owners in western NC? So far I have met two fellows with Yellow ones....

Cheers

I am in Hendersonville (right below Asheville)

Our company has it's main office in Brevard and I drive past/thru Toxaway all the time on my way to Cashiers/Highlands <grin>

As to the Dragon...sounds great....but note....it is about 130 miles from Hendersonville which is a little over 2.5 hours according to yahoo maps?

That being said we do have a ton of awesome roads up here, Ceasars Head (276) is just a hop/skip away plus I know a bunch of smaller/local roads with great elevation changes and turns :-)

ah I thought it was closer than that. Either way we should get a few people together, maybe bbq than drive? I know a real good gravel road that leads to a lake with a good cliff to jump off and a good bbq pit place...

If you're ever in the Raleigh area, there are quite a few evos that meet at the Ale House 1st Saturday of every month. Maybe we could have a state-wide evo meet this summer.

Yeah right, that'll happen

Luke WL: When you get up here give me a yell and we will see what we can get into <grin>

Yeah...this state is too long for a state-wide meet....the drive to Raleigh really bites. I actually got the car in Fayetteville, trailered it back which made for a long day.

I wouldn't rule out a more inclusive state wide meeting.
Hell, I'd be up for a road trip for a weekend.
It has gone around the board before about maybe getting together and doing a road trip meet and ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway or something.

Hey woodc, congrats on the Evo. I am actually in the Fletcher area. I'll be sure to honk and maybe even give you the finger if I see you around .

I have a Silver '03 Evo, feel free to honk and make rude gestures if you see me around.

I have a few guys that want to start heading down to Bristol dragway sometime this summer on Tuesdays, maybe you can make it out there one time.

I am in the Hickory area. Not too far from Asheville. I think we could have a pretty good Evo meet around this area. We had about 15 Evos come to a Dynoflash tuning party/Evo meet, back in the cold month of December, we should be able to get a better crowd in the nice months of summer or early fall. I know alot of guys that would love to hit the mountains for some semi-spirited driving.

BTW, Woodc, how do you like the tires. Did you get the Azenis RT-615's. I was thinking about getting those myself.

Brian

Looks like the western part or NC is going to be flooded with evos. I wish there was more in central NC. There is only about 3-4 in my area that i know of and only 2 off them are down to earth!!!

I did get the 255/40 615s but honestly…I cannot tell you how they do. I have not driven the car more than 50 miles since I put them on <sigh> The CEL keeps coming on with an EGR flow code (which the dealer claims is due to the boost controller…even though I showed him a disconnected vac hose that I cannot locate where it goes  but more importantly the thing shifts like crap…when it gets pissy you just about cannot get it into gear…even at low RPMs <sigh> From what others have said it sounds like the HKS twinplate clutch is just giving up the ghost…although it is very hit and miss and feels more like totally shot bushings or something?

Basically…I am totally disheartened with the car…I don’t even want to mess with it. As soon as I get the CEL problem fixed…I will probably bite the bullet and stick an ACT clutch in there then sell the car. I barely have time to enjoy driving the car…and I certainly do not have time to be constantly working on it >:-( I realize the majority of the problems are probably from the PO…but every time I search for any clutch/driveline problem I get the phonebook….obviously it is not a strength for the EVO and at this point I am just plain fed up.

yeh, NC's getting fairely big with evo's.

You guys all need to join the Evolutions Owners club of GA///SE as the NC sector Evo owners.

We'll get together events.

I'm actually planning one for the end of July, early August.

Maybe we could see most of you there.

********************* go there for updates.
