I might be interested. I'm more of a "Track Junkie" than a "Meet up with other EVO's Junkie" though. From my experience, these get togethers attract cops and some straggler goof-*****.

I'm going to Carolina Motorsports Park on Saturday November 12th for a track day and December 3rd and 4th at VIR for another one. I'd love to meet up with some local track guys there.

Thats why I suggested the autocross, I figured its much safer, wich an actuall activity other than sitting in a parking lot.

Which event is going on at CMP on the 12th? Thats 26 miles from me, though I dont really have anything to track at the moment. (F2000 engine is cooked, Neon needs some work before I waste a track day in it)

Why does Carolina Motorsports Park sound so familiar??? Where is it? I just can't place it though, but I'm sure I've been there or passed it or something. I agree with you guys, mostly bad things happen when a bunch of people conjugate in parking lots but like Jon said, if it's at an autocross it shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably check out these events.

I just heard that an Evo from Georgia is coming to the one at Knights Castle on the 13th.. which makes 3, with a 4th I hope I can talk my way into.

(We are thinking of a mini-shootout now.. an AMS customer car with AMS Driver + car owner in it. Stop&TurnFreak are you listening? Then the Georgia Evo is a TopSpeed customer car that would have car owner + TopSpeed employee/driver in it. Lowest time wins.. could be fun.)

8thWonder, do you happen to know who has the Silver Evo I have seen parked 3 times now in one of the coliseum lots at USC?

oh just a string of bad luck. my mom's bf backed into me in the tundra so it left a small dent on the hood, which is getting replaced soon with a CF hood, and i work the grave yard shift. Around 3am on I-85 is a buch of 18wheelers, well one of them blew there tire out like 2lanes over and half the tire like flew into my lane but i wasnt paying attention to the road a head cuz i knew NO one was in front and i was watchign him so he would kill me. i ran into the tire and it broke like the front 3 tabs on the stock lip, tore up my driver side underpanel like ripped it off, and dented the intercooler a little. yeha it sucks cuz it all happen in a week. u know the saying when it rain it pours.

Carolina Motorsports Park is a 2.25mile road course located 5 miles south of Kershaw, SC, and 14 miles north of Camden, SC on 521/601.

Happens to be my "home" track, if you count closest in physical georgraphy as home.. however if home is where the heart is, then my home track is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I knew I heard of it. Isn't there a 1/8th mile there too, or they use a portion of it for that? I know there was one a few people I knew used to go to in that general area. I may have to check that out on the 12th too!

There is an 8th mile dragstrip between Elgin and Lugoff on US-1, which is about 20 miles from CMP.. different guy owns it, etc.. I went out there when it was under construction, but thats it for that drag strip and I.. (and its 5 miles from the house.. lol)

CMP was built on the site of the old Kershaw airport, so no drag strip included at all, just road course..

On another note, I talked to the owner of the silver Evo today at USC.. he just got it 3 weeks ago, had a Civic Si.. I was sorta rushing to get to class and he looked to be studying for a test so I didn't get his name like a dumba**, but he said he is on the boards so hopefully he will pop in and say hi.

What's the likelihood of that? Yeah, I never wanted to go to that track either, but the roadcourse sounds like a plan. What time will it be held on the 12th? For that matter how about the one at Ft. Mill? I don't want to drive out there and then an hour later it's over!

The event on the 12th you would have to preregister for (at CMP) If you haven't done track days yet, then you would also need an instructor.. Turn1Motorsports Track Days are very similar to my SeatTime days, its a bit more of a production than an Autocross.

The Fort Mill Autocross at Knights Castle November 13th:
Registration: 7:30 - 9:00am
Tech: 8:00 - 9:30am
Drivers Meeting: 10:00am
First Car Off: 10:15am

Entry Fee: $30 for non-SCCA Members, $25 for SCCA Members, $15 late fee from 9:00 - 9:30am.

Event is at Charlotte Knights Statium, Exit 88 off of I-77 in SC. Go left at top of ramp if heading North on 77, Right at top of Ramp if heading south on 77.

Thanks, but I think I'll be playing spectator at this one, at least to see if it's something I might want to do.
