Question Charlotte, NC Area meet and greet

I am kind of new to evom and am just now getting to know how large the site is. This is my first thread in the regional forum and I am trying to start enjoying other peoples cars.

I am interested to join, or host if necessary, a meet and greet type event somewhere in the Charlotte area. Moreso I would like to organize/join a local car club which involves some friendly, legal driving to show off our cars. A friend of mine has a BMW Z3 and those guys get together every now and again and they seem to have a great time, I just want to be with cars more like mine.

I would hope to find lots of RA's out there interested in my area but I would definitely not be opposed to involvement with regular Lancers such as the EVO. Kidding aside, I need Mitsubishi Lancer owners of any type to respond and let me know what they think.

Sounds like a good time to me, hope it does to you all too.

There is an SCCA Autocross at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill on November 13th.
Thats Exit 88 on I-77 in South Carolina, so only 4-5 min south of I-465/I-77 Interchange in NC. It would make a good chance to meet/socialize/compate. Usually there are a couple Evos that show up.

I dont know If I will be in one that day, but it would be fun to see a bunch of Evos to represent against the multitudes of Subarus that show up, and its a good location for a NC and even SC meet.

Usually the SCCA group there (Central Carolinas Region) hosts about one a month.. December 4th is one at the NASCAR Tech school in Moresville, last month they put on an event at Maggie Valley outside of Ashville. Usually they are in the Charlotte area though.

There are also a few clubs with an hour or so drive from you that do autocrosses..

South Carolina Region SCCA: Columbia, SC (have one on December 3rd there I will be pulling double duty that weekend) This group also runs a couple of Spartanburg events and some Charleston Events. www.scr-scca.com

Highlands Sports Car Club: Ashville, NC area, has a good summer night autocross series as well. www.highlandssportscarclub.com

Triad Sports Car Club: Winston-Salem, Greensboro, etc.. good group, lots of competition, some good sites. www.auto-x.com

Tarheel Sports Car Club: Western, NC, they run on a lot of old airports so events are usually pretty fast, they have an entry limit of 150 cars though, so you got to get in on these early. www.thscc.com

Central Carolinas Region SCCA: Charlotte/Rock Hill/Fort Mill mostly though some events in eastern NC as well, common sites include Intimidators Stadium north of Charlotte, NASCAR Tech, Maggie Valley, Knights Castle. This group also runs road racing and a couple of Time Trial events at Carolina Motorsports Park. www.ccrscca.com

I just talked to another Evo owner in Charlotte, we might see at least 3, maybe a 4th Evo minimum when I talk to another one.

Thanks! I see the one in town is going to be at White Knoll HS, so I'll have to definitely check that one out. I'm looking at my schedule now to see about checking out the one in Ft. Mill. That's less than an hour away from here, so I should be able to make that one no prob.

The white Knoll one should be fun, If you come out then we will have at least two Evos there (unless the other one ends up on call from the hospital)

I just heard that an Evo from Georgia is coming to the one at Knights Castle on the 13th.. which makes 3, with a 4th I hope I can talk my way into.

(We are thinking of a mini-shootout now.. an AMS customer car with AMS Driver + car owner in it. Stop&TurnFreak are you listening? Then the Georgia Evo is a TopSpeed customer car that would have car owner + TopSpeed employee/driver in it. Lowest time wins.. could be fun.)

8thWonder, do you happen to know who has the Silver Evo I have seen parked 3 times now in one of the coliseum lots at USC?

Hahhaha! Should be fun!

No, I don't know who that would be. I've only met a few people around here with their EVOs. EVO owners are hard to track down here for some reason!! Two cats live in my neighborhood, a white MR I think the father drives, a straight 8 his son drives. I've sent a couple other people a message about these events so they may get involved. They post on here under EVOG8r & EazyEvo, so we'll see.
