Went up and made a few passes today, hung out for about 3 hours. Saw 1 semi, 4 cruisers, 2 sportbikes, 1 blue Evo from MI, 1 Audi, 1 2006 Miata, and 1 lowered GMC pickup with broken suspension. Needless to say, we pretty much had the road all to ourselves.

Oh, that is one fun piece of asfalt! The road is actually very nice and the turns are mostly so close together that you really gotta be a nut case or toatally incompetent to crash there. I drive that road at 8/10s~9/10s every chance I get. The EVO has such freaking good handling and power that it makes an OK driver good.... It's a blast to drive and I'd recommend it to anybody. I'm not sure about when the traffic is best (no other cars on the road), but I'd guess early in the morning or late at night might be best. I've been there where it was very lightly travelled and some times it sucks with the tourists and leaf watchers in SUVs or Minivans driving 15 mph . The crotch rocket bikers will not hold you back , but ppl with cruisers will definitely slow you down. Try it, it's fun. Try to go with others, it's more fun with other car enthusiasts

Probably 2.5~3.5 hrs depending how you go.... That ride might be a lot of fun if the traffic is light if you go Northwest and try to go on US 64 West first.....

Can anyone give me directions there from Charlotte? Or is there a website for that stretch of road?

Thanks!

The Georgia DSM club is going up there for a weekend getaway in a couple weeks. Check it out here. www.gadsm.org Just go to Forum, then to the events section. Its called the fall mountain run.

This is also the same club that rents the track and holds the Import Showdown @ Silver Dollar Raceway twice a year.

Good group of guys and gals. We do crazy things like this a couple times a year. Most of us are from Georgia, but some people are coming from TN, NC, SC too.

They are renting a cabin in the village, but my girl and I are getting a "sweetheart" room as they call it. I can't pass up a heart shaped hot tub, king size bed, and a fireplace....no way.

Haha, this sounds like so much fun, maybe I need to get the Cobra up there before it gets too cold.
