Florida Drivers, Read and Weep :(

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/01/f...dar-detectors/

Thanks to Florida State Senator Steve Oelrich, the Sunshine State could become the second state in the union to ban the use of radar detectors by motorists. Oelrich proposed the bill to the state legistature on Wednesday, which would make the use of radar detectors in the state a secondary traffic infaction punishable by a ticket if the offending motorist were pulled over for another offense.

The arguments against radar detectors are well documented, the most obvious being that users believe they can speed at will and not get caught. Those who actually use radar detectors know that they are anything but a free pass to speed on public roads. In my own great state of Ohio, radar detectors are used to navigate the mine field of speed traps that plague our roadways.

Currently, Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only areas of the U.S. where the use of a radar detector in any vehicle is illegal. New York and Illinois have laws against radar detectors being used in commercial vehicles, while Minnesota and California have laws against hanging anything from a vehicle's windshield, which includes radar detectors.

Hope you bishes can hide them

Wasn't there a write-up on here somewhere where the guy had just a LED strip showing just above the clock area? I think it was made by whoever makes the K40 detector.

I haven't had the chance to vote down here yet, I think Im still registered in WI.

Yeah I just saw this on the news the other day. When I heard it I wasnt too happy. I can understand why, but most people that have radars we dont use it as a free ticket to speed. I see more people speeding that do not have radars. I for one use my own for highways and I4 when on long trips (speed traps, gota love them).

Upside we still dont have emissions testing. I would hate for that to come back.

The guy isn't in my district. Besides, it's only a secondary violation like seat belts.

If it passes it will be a secondary traffic misdemeanor, and LEO cannot pull you over for having a radar detector, only give you a citation for having one if you were pulled over for speeding, etc...

If it does pass, people are looking at adding about $75 for that fine, Plus the Primary ticket.

there's a federal band against radar detectors in every commercial vehicle above 8,000 lbs, this is valid for all states. But it still sucks if they place a ban on everybody, nobody vote for this guy!!
