TN said that they didn't want the tourists dying in their state and are being arsholes about it. very fun drive regardless of that.
ROFL, this is why we've taken the time to find lots of other roads just as nice but nowhere near as crowded. There arn't enough of em to catch us all

You going to roll up and show us where all of these "other roads" are? We would like to have some fun too, without the po-po ruining everything!

I'll see if i can get the list from the guy in PCA that's hosting it, then we can attempt to map it in google earth or something. This will make it easier to plan. For those of you who don't have a portable GPS, i suggest saving up for one, even a 200 bucker can make things like this a LOT easier to organize.

That's the last thing I need! Maybe they will have calmed down by the end of September because Summer will be over. I get harrassed enough as it is....

Yeah, it does look interesting but I've never actually driven those roads. SCHP don't seem to frequent those back roads, at least the ones I've driven.

I'm still interested. Maybe some other people will be going before this trip and can report how the atmosphere is up there. If the cops are still crawling everywhere, then we may have to look for other routes.

Don't drive on the weekend, high traffic volume and plenty of "Johnny law's" hanging out to help spoil the fun. I was up August 9th & 11th, I only saw two Johnny's and they were cool. On the 12th & 13th, there were 3 fatalities(1 bike over the side & 1 trike w/ 2 people, very sad). Now it is an all-out ticket fest! I think by September it will have calmed down a bit. I really advise you to drive Wednesday-Friday, not Sat & Sun as those two factors will slow it down a bunch.
Here's the latest BS about what Johnny Law is doing:

I'll be heading up there last week in October, 1st week of November, no leaves on the trees, cooler weather, very few other cars and hopefully, no Johnny's!

Probably would be best to go after the summer is over.

Yes, the cops have been cracking down at the gap. Supposedly, they have about 15 dedicated cops patroling the area now.
