Yeah, the oil dilemma and finger pointing as to who is better is never ending. It's about as hard a decision as deciding which clutch or turbo to go with. I have tried other oils in the past and wasn't impressed. If you nose around on Amsoil's website, they have testing compared to a bunch of other oils...of course it's "their" lab tests so any results could be skewed. I'm willing to give it a try though.

Amsoil Racing Dominator is really good stuff. Use it in all of our built engines. Rumor has it that it is made from the blood of Tommi Makkinen.

^I lul'd

Bob makes a good point though. Everyone will say Brand A is the best oil and Brands B-Z are whatever.

My brother ran RP in his Evo 9 for a little while without any ill effect (it was completely bonestock and never raced though). On another note I've read some pretty unflattering stories from a few members of EvoM about things they've witnessed happen to engines running RP. I can't validate any of the statements with personal experience so the best I can say is "I've read."

It seems that there is so much bs in the oil world. I have yet to see a scientific test proving that a certain oil is far superior in all applications. As far as I can tell most synthetics are pretty equal. I could be wrong though.

I have heard nothing but good things about Amsoil though.

See, that is all I am trying to figure out. I am not too rough on my car, but I definitely want the best oil I can put into it.

I'd be willing to bet Amsoil is going to be the best you can buy. If you visit their website, they have some cool videos of their greases versus others in side by side scientific tests. Only reason they really caught my attention was for oil for my sportbike. I run the Honda HP4 fluid currently, but this was after experimenting with Motul. Just the motul oil alone made my bike idle 4 degrees hotter than the HP4 oil did. Why? I haven't got a clue, but as soon as I switched it back the idle temp was back to normal.

I'm going to list everyone that wanted oil plus what they were looking for. Like I said before we will split the shipping evenly between all of us.
Bob- case of 10W-40 (bike), case of 10W-30 (car), Pi
Luke- case of 5W-30
Dan- 5 qts 20W-50 ???
Buddy at work- 2 cases 5W-30

I will order right now if I can get a final answer from Dan.

Haiti is still a POS. And the boat sucks a lot. I'm sitting on a few grand that I'm itching to drop into the car. Thats about it for me.

were you planning on building your bottom end while your head is off ? If so, you may want to swap that 10w30 out for some 10w40 as well. Or maybe a half case of 20w50 and 10w40

No. I ended up not pulling the head. I was using a pos rental compression tester from auto zone that was leaking like a ****. Also, I was reading on here that my compression should be around 180 or so, then realized that's for an 8 and a 9 should show 135psi (per the manual) All 4 cylinders are dead on at 135 so I didn't pull it. I did send off the IM/TB for porting, and my ETS piping is back at ETS for a switch to stainless piping and to have them weld on my methanol bung and TiAl flange.

^I definitely laughed!!

I can't help but think you should have known this considering he's 1 out of the 4 that pretty much always shows up. But I for one forgive you based on the fact that I generally recognize people WAY easier by their car than their name.

BUT considering how many dinners and other stuff we've done together......you gotta listen more when we do roll call hahaha.

Otherwise I'm down for Wednesday. I just got over being sick (or at least pretty close to) from spending too much damn time in the cold. SO I haven't been doing much of anything the last couple of days.

Anyone on here drive a black wingless 8/9? I was in j-ville, on western, going towards wal-mart when I seen it around 3 pm. I noticed it at the last second so I couldnt tell if it was a 8 or 9.

Also, I been in j-ville the morning of the 12th and the 15th to get LASIK done.
