Life in Florida qu
Exhaust is very Dependant on the location and cop. I got an exhaust ticket with a pretty quiet exhaust in an almost stock car.
As mentioned, stick to the big cities. West palm is nice. More jobs in Miami, tampa, orlando. Orlando is booming but inland. Miami is a bit more expensive especially if you want to live in a nicer area, but it has the most going on. Tampa is pretty cheap, but i recommend being in tampa and not the surrounding areas.

Thanks for the advice - it's all welcome. I won't be moving w/o a job in place. And I doubt I move to an area smaller than STL (rated between 18th-22nd largest city in US).
Realistically I'd like to make the move before next winter. I'm not rushing into it; it's been about a 2 year idea that I/we finally decided to make a reality before we get too old. And no, I'm not 50.

But the import scene is pretty big IMO. Make frequent trips to different parts and pro/con the places you liked. Good luck with everything.
Thanks. I know FL doesn't have a shortage of tracks, so no problem there. Where are a majority of the tracks located? Mostly central-ish or N? Btw, I'm pretty good at Sebring on Forza2 with the 996!
Oh, and ya don't have problems finding 93 octane right? When I was visiting a few weeks back it seemed plentiful. There's a few spots here in STL that have gotten rid of it - not sure why!
We went from St Petersburg over to West Palm. Btw, you turnpike isn't cheap!

. Besides, 1.5 hours to the beach, any beach, any direction (except miami), plus you get to open the throttle up
Get GTR2 as well and download Homestead, Roebling, (moroso sucks) Road Atlanta, etc. No force feed back from the xbox wheel but great none the less. Also, get a SunPass as soon as you get there, you'll save like 20% or something on tolls.
1. 30% on the front two windows, 20% in the back. But 20% all around was legal enough for a tint shop to give me a receipt and no cop has ever noticed it in the four years I've had it. If I remember right, the strip on the top of the windshield can only go down four inches.
2. Only if you're one of those jdm obsessed honda guys or a snow bird.
3. Fortunately the exhaust noise laws are pretty easy. The only guy I've seen who got a noise violation was running a Sentra with no cats and no muffler, pretty much no exhaust other than the stock header. No offence to the guys who have test pipes but I wish they would bring back the emissions testing in Florida. When it gets a little cool out and I can save money on gas by not running the ac, I often end up with a headache wherever I go because of all the cars in this town that burn oil and never get fixed.
4. Some go down to 65 or 55. Just keep it within 10mph of the limit, or right at the limit if there is a cop driving nearby, and you should be fine. Invest in a radar detector if you haven't already.
5. No, but get situated in January or towards the beginning of the year and the job market will at least be looking for people. Orlando has some nice people but is too full of idiots and tourists for me. I love living in Tampa but the job market here isn't great for what I do (pre-press+graphic design+fine arts) and I haven't really heard anything better in terms of IT. Clearwater and Palm Harbor would probably be the place to look for an IT job. There are a lot of engineering companies in that town, unfortunately a lot of old people on the roads too.

IT jobs in Florida are pretty good, if I were you I'd post your resume on monster.com and watch the jobs come for you. Like tiffany&coNY said the drivers here are... ah.... well, let’s just say insurance here is expensive as compared to other states! As far as the cold... I left Jersey a long time ago and I don't miss it!
The salt ruining your car and the poor streets are a thing of the past, so having a nice car down here wouldn't be an issue. Exhaust here are loud, motorcycles like Harley's and stuff make more noise than my Buschur Turbo back with no cat, but like everyone mentioned it all depends if the cop had his cereal pissed on in the morning. Import scene here is top notch... Where else can you go and see a 60+ EVO meet and have people drive all over the state to be a part of it? Something else, tracks here are almost year round, so no need to worry about that and 93 as pump gas here is a good thing also
. The gay front license plate is gone (God that looks so gay). Lastly we have a lot of great companies that modify EVO's!!! We got places like Titan, Brotherz Racing, CFT, XtremeBoost etc etc, and tuners up the ying, both JestR and TTP are here, so Florida is also a one stop shop!
FL FTW!

florida is nice but between tax and insurance forget owning a place. I regret buying a condo in tax alone for a condo i'm paying 3k a year which is CRAP. Imagine a decent size house, also insurance is an arm and a leg. If i get a opportunity elsewhere PEACHE fL lol

I think taxes suck everywhere. My previous house was 1700sqft and about 15yrs old - ran about $2500/year.
Isn't there no state income in FL?

Thanks. That fact there should pay for your housing taxes. Or if they are just simply higher, it should pay for the difference vs the average priced state at least.
I know some houses down the road in a brand new subdivision in IL that have like 3000-4500sq ft 2-story homes with 4 car garages ranging from $350-600k. Their taxes are like 9-11k a year.

It's when you record the documents (So yes, at the time of closing).
Example: $100,000.00 house, to record the Deed it cost $700.00; to record the Mortgage it will cost $550.00 (+ between $100 and $200 depending on # of pages). That's just recording fees.
