Anyway, I have $500 deduct on comprehensive and they don't waive the fee for "replacement" only "repair." So I need a good reputable shop that can do the replacement for me. Preferably on site and soon!
I've always had good luck with Safelite Autoglass...that's what my insurance company sends out to me. I had the windshield on my Civic replace three times, and I was always satisfied with the work...

I used Glass Doctor. Total to replace was around $250. They used OEM glass. They came out to my work and replaced it. They were able to do it same day for me.

If they can't do it, you could Safelite. I think they cost the same and will also come to you.

I went with Glass Doctor's at first based on their quote. Then they called me back about 30 minutes ago and told me they misquoted me. From $304 --> $360, and that's if I come to their shop. On site is an additional fee.

So I am now going with Safelite, which my insurance recommended too. $307 + Tax No add'l charge for on-site.

It depends on what you have your deductible set at. I "had" mine at $500 for comprehensive. I now have it at $0.00 The difference in monthly payment is $2.00 for the wife's vehicle and $6.00 for the Evo.

I'll gladly pay that based on how weak these damn windows are!

I'll be taking advantage of it too when my windshield starts getting those freaking pothole marks in it.

It's considered a safety issue, and they have to cover it.
especially if it was 1.5 feet long.

I got mine done a while back when a truck kicked up a rock and put a quarter size hole right in my vision area..
free99 and they came to my work and did it in the parking lot in an hour.
Insurance will cover it a full replacement...but you have to pay your deductible and mine is set at $500. So, it didn't make sense to go through insurance since it only cost $260.

Now, if it's a small crack or chip that is smaller than a dollar (like your situation with your truck), then insurance will cover the fix for free (assuming it's fixable)

That sucks. I literally just had my windshield done a couple months ago with Glass Doctor and it was $100 cheaper. Didn't think costs would go up that much.

Oh well, at least Safelite is taking care of it for you. Both companies are good at this stuff.

^What he said. Windshields should be replaced for free by your insurance. That's how it was in KY anyways.

I'm thinking we need to push the pics back a few weeks too probably. That pollen is ridiculous. Falls faster than you can wipe it off.

Yep, thats what i thought too.
maybe it's different here in SC, than it is in NC.
They told me, if it was in my vision, it was a hazard, and they would pay 100%.
If it was small ding, they'd repair, if it was a runner crack, then replace.
Told em it was a running crack and that was it.
within 3 days, I had new windshield.

I got full replacement for free, didn't pay a dime.
And my Ded. was 500$ also.
They came to my work, replaced it, and I didn't pay a dime.

What ins. co. ?

mine is state farm

That's a bad break with the windshield. Don't wait until you slam the door shut and shatter your windshield like I did on my old 944.

Robert - Give me a call/PM this week and let's figure out a good time for Saturday if you're still up for it. Looks like we're supposed to get nice weather next weekend.
I'm down for a meet for sure, but if you want a good shot of your car we're better off spending an hour or two 1 on 1 instead instead of the parkign lot at the hooters. I'm debating on whether or not to go to a brewery tour with friends on saturday too... I'll give you a call
