Wow, over a month with no posts...this thread used to be so alive.

Well, to clear out the cobwebs, I saw a red Evo 8 at Brier Creek this past weekend over by Noodles and Company...

Hey everybody!
Hope this isnt too random, I'm coming up on on 30k miles, @ 29.5k right now and I'm soon due for 30k mileage service. Any recommendations on the dealers to take it to, or anything to 'watch out for'?
I'm basically bone stock minus a headunit (lol) and cobb sway bars.

I saw in an older thread that Leith Mitsubishi (Cary/Raleigh) is blacklisted? Anyone have any recent experience with them?

Thanks!

^^^ I've never trusted Leith anything, but I did take my Evo there about a year ago for 60K service (timing belt, water pump, etc.) and didn't have any problems. It's now time for my 75K service, so I'll probably take it back there again...

Ali, a guy who used to live around here but moved back to Michigan used to take his Evo to the Mitsu dealer in Durham...he seemed to prefer them.

I'm mostly stock, too...just a cat-back and drop-in filter, and the car's never been tuned. In talking with some of the service guys at Leith, I think they only really have problems with heavily modded Evos, and ones that lock them out of the ECU...

For suspension and brake work or alignments, I'd recommend Performance Chassis in Cary.

Wherever you choose to take it, good luck!

I have a 2006, 9 with about 30k miles. I took mine there back in May for a Timing Belt service. I had the also replace the Water Pump and Crank Position sensor while they were there. They did an excellent job and were very careful not scratch up the engine bay during the process. Reggie is the service manager and he stayed on top of things the entire time. Giving I was getting a few other things done, I met with them and talked about what I wanted done. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend.

Car Show this weekend in Durham. I've gone this in the past and the turn out is usually pretty large. May be something to check out this weekend. The show is open to imports.

I've heard of TurboTime, but I've never had anything done there. Haven't heard anything bad, though...

There's another Subie shop, Janko Imports, off of Capital up in Wake Forest. I've heard good things about them as well...

Turbo Time, I know of their shop and have been by there, but haven't had any work done there. They aren't too far from where I live, I hear the boxer engine from quite often during test drives and all.

Depending on what you are looking for Performance Chassis in Cary is a great shop for adding performance mods to cars. They work with a variety of cars from Evos, Track Cars to Lambos and more. Here is a link to their site.

Turbo time is the only ones that wife trusts with her STi and Forester. They have a tech on hand that knows Evo's very well. They are good on maintenance stuff. If i can't get to Spec-Ops they are the only other shop I trust to work on my Evo. Shane knows what he's doing.
