exhaus law in atlanta, GA

Hey all,
I was hoping to know how the aftermarket exhaust law is in GA. I am planning to move to GA in the summer from VA. After getting some exhaust tickets here, I was planning to go back to stock with an e-cutout, since I don't want to deal with it anymore.
But if they are not too strict down in GA, I want to save up and go the other route.
Can you guys let me know if they are pretty strict about exhaust in GA?

Thanks in advance,

GA is waaaay more slack than VA. I daily a 3" Buschur magnaflow no cat. I know numerous STI's with straight pipes. I've never had any issues. My suggestion is don't worry about it until you move. If you get busted, you can pull the "I'm sorry I just moved here" card, lol. So where in GA are you moving too? Check out evoatlanta.com for some GA Evo action. Not the best forums in the world but it's all we have local, I'm Kuruma on the EvoA forums. Welcome to GA!

Cool deal. My mother is from Decatur and the dealer I work at isn't too far away(by Atlanta standards, lol). I hope you enjoy Atlanta!

Depends on the cop. There is no decibel law here and I got an exhaust ticket when I had my honda over 10 years ago. A local recently got a ticket from a state trooper for exhaust noise while in his evo. The lack of clear decibel levels that are acceptable doesn't mean you get off, it means you are guaranteed the ticket. They don't require you to fix (If they do its not like you have to go to a state ref like Cali).

I've never been stopped in my evo and I also don't give them a reason to stop me for the most part.

I work with a guy that just moved from VA. He says GA is way more slack than VA when it comes to modified cars. You will always have the random occurances like mentioned above, but you never hear both sides of the story. Personally I've never had a problem and neither has anyone I know personally.

Welcome to GA!
