Ok so deperatly wanting to revitalize the Orlando area Im gonna make another attempt to create a meet.

As you all may or may not be aware the 1/4 mi strip in Bithlo "Orlando SpeedWorld" is shutting down at the end of this year making it more and more difficult for us to fully enjoy our cars. Now before they close there will be 2 more open drag nights Fri Nov 30th and Fri Dec 14th. I figured for those who havent been and those that havent been in a while this might be our last chance to push the limit legally and see what we are really made of. The track opens at 6pm and entrance is $10 with $5 more to race. Im going to post this on all the lancer boards to see what kind of gathering I can make so stay tuned. Feel free to post any comments and or opinions on the matter

Why are they closing it down?
not enough money?

or are they being forced out?

 

From what I heard They are getting sued

 

there not being sued. the lease is up on the track and the owner doesnt want to renew the lease

Yea and with CFRC closing the 1/8th mi thats pretty much our only option to "Legally" Race. And then there is always a public outcry when that happens

 

that sucks, there are rumors that Walmart might be buying it to build a distribution center

You'll get one run in. It's going to be a huuuge turn out on the 30th. There is already a local forum that has organized to meet up on this date + locals. Sad that this place is closing down, I've been racing there since high school =(.

 

Well I got 3 in so Im happy I saw 2 other evos running was it anyone one from here?

 

Every Friday and Sunday is been soo pack. Only get 1 or 2 runs. Not even worth going. I don't care about the money. It's the time n I'm so upset to stay there for 4 hours n get only 2 runs. Forget it

 

That's a shame. I had a lot of good times up there. Lots of good people in Orlando. Hopefully another option opens up. Have fun guys.
