Knoxville, TN Evo club.
Wow, I can't believe I'm the only one that can go! I'm meeting a guy from EVOX forums to ride up, but he is a former owner, he now drives a boxter.

Wish I could get more weekends off work. Was out at the dragon last fri-sun on my bike with friends. Usually avoid it on weekends, but had friends in town and those were the only days they were here. Got out there early on sat and sun. Was surprised at the lack of traffic and enforcement. Only a couple of LEOs hanging out by the water at the north end. Mrlancer, got that FSB figured out yet?
So, yea or nay? You should be able to make it, but things happen (once I sat in traffic up there for 2 hrs. Waiting on a wreck to clear). So if its imparitive that you get back, maybe you should sit this one out. We'll plan another ride up there soon. If you don't respond to this ill assume that you aren't going and ill go on without stopping at Starbucks.

Well it was ok, but not great. On the way up there was a bicycle race going on, so it was complete crap. That put us (me and a former X owner now in a boxter) 30 min late getting to the meetup at the dam. Meetup was ok, but not nearly as many cars as I was expecting. Only 3 Xs, and 3 8/9s. On the trip down there ware a few bicycles, but not near as many. But there were some cruisers in front of us trying to go fast, but not on our level. There in lies the problem, a guy on a touring Harley crashed in front of our group. I was the third car and heard the carnage unfold. Since he had just went out of view around a curve, I didn't see it, but I heard it. We all stopped to check on him and luckily he seemed hurt, but not injured. We pulled his bike out of the ditch and over to the pull off. His buddies were there to take care of him, so we continued on. I'm glad it wasn't worse!!!
I don't think I'll be going back to the dragon. It's a blast, but its just too hard on my car. In the three times I've been up there I've developed a whine that has gotten progressively worse every time (it makes me sick). It doesn't match the description of Tcase death whine, but something is going on. I want to be driving this car a long time, and beating the **** out of it it is not conducive to longevity. I'm going to call Jacks transmission today to see if they have any ideas
. On top of that, there's the added wear on tires, brakes, suspension components, clutch.

Man I'm sorry to hear that. Glad dude was ok, honestly the best time for us locals to go is during the week.
So your whine even worse this time? Man that's strange. No one else on the X forums reporting issues like this? Hope Jacks has some answers.

Ive read alot about death whine and everyone says (including Jacks tech articles) that it is constant and gets louder the faster you go. There have been a few people with a transmission whine, but it is also said to be constant, and grows in volume and pitch as the rpms rise. Mine doesn't whine at all except under the before mentioned circumstances.
I was thinking that maybe the extreme forces up there could be causing stress on the wheel bearings. Idunno. It sounds exactly like a supercharger.
I called Jack's today, and the person I talked to agreed that it didn't sound Tcase or tranny related. After researching a bit, it definitely sounds like a wheel bearing issue. The hub/bearings are $156 (x2). I'm not going to worry about it for now. I guess instead of a canyon carver, I need to get a big turbo and do highway pulls.

Sorry about he issues man, but don't call it quits on the curves. I may actually be able to go one day and I'll need a guide.
