as funny as this all is, we should get back on the real track.
That said..
Who is down for this.
I am going to start a vote and those who are in please add your name to the list. This is very simple.
Does and Don'ts
* If you know 100% you are in or not in, Vote!
* If your not sure. Dont put your name down. When we start drafting firm numbers I want want people flaking off last minute.
* To help this point further. Assume we as a club are paying full price. If cost is something holding you back (DONT PUT YOUR NAME DOWN)
* If you dont have enough mods to be allowed to enter, DONT VOTE, if your close, be damn sure you have enough mods to meet the requirements.
* Under stand you will not have your car for a few days.... YOU WILL NOT HAVE A CAR FOR A FEW DAYS, Dont put your car in unless you have away of getting around.
I am discouraging people from voting if they are going to flake off or just arent sure. Once we have enough or not enough people, we as a club can decide if we want to discounts and do a joint op with another Mitsu related club, or go it alone. The point is we want to start representing our club on the show room now. Not just at local meets and city creeping

I think you are missing the point... you are NOT losing your car for a few days, it's one night. Last year, I had some of the girls spend the night at my place and then we headed down to the MTCC the next morning. We were at the show with our cars for the day and then we rolled out on Saturday night after the awards.
If you are looking for exposure, sure go to Importfest, but there are tons of other car shows out there that are less expensive and have less strict criteria where you can get exposure as well. You have to remember that being such a specific club, you are already limiting members. Also, not everyone wants to join a club, and there are people who have joined one already and that works for them. Looking at it from my standpoint, I'm very active with one show team and with one car club.
Like I mentioned previously, I have been to a couple of Importfests and I know what the procedures are and what was going on, so if you have any questions, just let me know. Stating that people will be losing their cars for a FEW days when it's only ONE night, is giving out incorrect information, and therefore will affect the decision of some people about their attendance at the show.

1) In regards to losing ones car for a few days. This is what was translated to me when I called the registration people, so after I got off the phone i typed that post. Definition conveyed to me was that, they want this to be an organized movement of cars in and cars out. The guy on the phone mentioned it enough to burn it in to my head. Then he also said look at the website for the strict guide lines. But he said, you drop off your car Friday evening long before the cut off only because they expect everyone to be late and want to move in last minute. It would be wise for us as a club or as individuals to load your cars early. Late afternoon. Early Evening.
From there your car will be in the building until Midnight Sunday. And since the move out process is going to be just as lol organized as a move in. That may take some time as well. Especially people who have displays or stuff to take down. so we are looking at by my watch just under 2 days. And since people have stuff to day and places to go, I do not want them thinking its as simple as drop your car off and pick it up as easy as pie.
I am not doubting your discription DJ, It will be my first import fest, but i have done a few things with the RSX guys and witness miss haps from other events hehe., but I got off the phone twice asking the promo guys how this is going to go to go. They said they will be enforcing stricter rules this year so they said to come early and stay late. The also said there is no reservations of spaces, we are where we are and if people are late. I think he said something like " Too F'ing bad" and went on about no matter how much you complain the rules are set in stone. So if we arrive as a group we will be parked as a group. Late comers will be parked elsewhere., where ever is going to be available.
So my push will be for people to come early so we have enough time for people that float around and arrive fashionably late. Also the reason why i want firm number for how we are going to do this is because we may do a Joint op with others which will rally to the Evolutionm.net banner since there is interest from those south of the border who wish to join in and represent their rides in this Canadian show. this is why I want to know exactly how many people are in and can commit to a longer commitment in terms of timing. Just because the co-ordination maybe bigger then our own local TLC guys. Below is a take from the official Import Fest website http://importfest.com/_registration/setup.php
ATTENTION COMPETITORS:
Move In:
Competitor load is scheduled for Friday September 11th 2009 from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM. If you absolutely cannot make this time, please contact ImportStyles Promotions Inc. immediately.
There will be absolutely NO SATURDAY MOVE-IN and NO EXCEPTIONS!
When you arrive at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre please proceed up the WEST ramp and to the registration table to collect your package (Basic or VIP) as well your car/bike will be tagged with a participant display card inside your front windshield. Please ensure this card is visible from the outside of your car for judging purposes.
Show hours:
Saturday September 12, 2009 | 12:00PM - 12:00AM
* Please read a copy of the Motorized Vehicle form by the MTCC prior to Set Up.
Set Up:
Please remain in your vehicles until you have been parked in your space by our staff. Do not ask to be parked somewhere else or to change the position of your car, our staff must display your car according to our floor plan no exceptions. You will be permitted to stay and clean your vehicle until 10:00PM.
Failure to move in on Friday will result in loss of space without refund.
Placement is on a first come first serve basis; please keep this in mind if you plan on rolling in as a team, all members must roll in at the same time. If for some reason one or two members will be late, the vehicles will not be placed in the same location.
Spaces will not be Reserved.
2) In regards to everyones free choice, TLC is meant to be as open source as possible, membership at this point is free and will remain so for as long as I can see it fit. The car club acts more as a Union vs. being a fixed club. People are free to be and do what they wish. I am only stating the options available. In terms of specific nature, Although we have the Lancer as a base model it still is a family of vehicals that span from old school ralliArts to new generation EVO X's. Now that the EVO X ranks are large enough, steps have now been taken to ensure that that faction of TLC has its fair share of representation. Website and supporting sponsor base. As much as I would love to talk about the things coming down the road I have to keep some things under wraps till its ready. The are already some sponsors both National and local that are signing on to support the expention of the EVO segment.
You have raised an import point. There is no obligation for anyone to chose one club over another. If anyone else wishes to represent another club or league, that is fine, and to be honest its encouraged. There are no borders here.
Again my point was completely missed. You are NOT losing your car for a few days. Take it from someone who has a actually been through the Importfest roll in process. That said, do as you wish but I just think that misinformation is a disservice to those who might be interested in attending.

On a more serious note. I compare this to event planning and the time dilemma. Someone has a party, it starts at 7 pm on the invitation, but no matter what 25% of the people are on time, 50% arrive within the hour and the rest show up when ever. Since we cant control peoples habits. Its better to control the timing of our organizing for this event.
Absolute will be Wing leader on this OP supported by myself, AJ and Infamous. When and where the rally point will be is up to him.
If those who might be interested get turned off by the clubs early arrival, it is unfortunate but at the same time, nothing stops them from going in at a different time (perhaps as a second wave) and arriving and departing as they wish. In terms of departing the even after Midnight, going by your opinion it should be a quick out.
a few days would be from afternoon Friday to Sunday morning, but if you would like to say a day and a half I guess that would work as well. I understand your first post directly at me, but I believe you missed out on my point within my post that you cited and followup. I am trying to get people to think a head and plan their movements
A) To the Car drop off
B) Getting home from the drop off
C) Getting back to the show
D) Transport for getting around during the show if they dont want to sit there all day long
E) being at the show or getting back to the show for the move out.
My goal is to support Absolute and ensure this goes off without a hitch. Whether 2 or 50 guys come. It is good to know that TLC made its first showing at Import fest
