^ i think its do with how they are made. What materials are used and if they are solid / forged piece.

I personally wouldn't trust a two piece rotor.

well then in that case, its a no brainer. basically cheaper, inferior rotors are more succeptible to stress and will therefore, crack.

so following this logic, two rotors (slotted vs drilled), both of equal, and of good quality, the drilled should outperform the slotted?

Materials used usually plays a huge factor and will have different stress variances

Higher quality material = Higher stress tolerance

Like you said..no brainer

so it is safe to assume that anyone who has had problems with their drilled rotors was the result of buying poorly manufacturered rotors to begin with. so really, they should have not complained since you get what you pay for?

^I wouldn't say so...even the brembo rotors have been said to crack.. there what 200 bucks a rotor? I also believe the 3000 dollar big brake brembos which are drilled are forged with the holes in them vs. the cheaper versions which are drilled after the fact...

2 piece rotors are generally a higher end rotor.. Giro Disc comes to mind.. big vendor on the board and many run them for street and track.. haven't heard any bad things as of yet.

read here http://www.girodisc.com/techinfo.htm
keep in mind they refer a lot to high performance since thats the market they cater toward, the same basic principles apply for us though.

My personal decision. Ive seen rivets break under certain stress loads, even high quality grade ones.

Same reason why I wouldn't go with two piece rims.

Again that's just me

The 2 piece rotor is a tried and true design that has been around for a while now, the key being the way the disc and hat is fastened, more so secured together. The cheaper method is via rivets or solidly fastening the disc and hat together. The problem with this is when theres 2 different materials, aluminum for the hat and iron for the disc, they both expand and contract at different rates. Expensive setups like the EVO X MR have floating fasteners that allow movement between the 2 yet still secured together.

I would go with the 2 piece rotors if I had the $$

we have a healthy discount, that I am finalizing. But when it comes upgraded brake stuff its never going to be dirt cheap. But with a healthy and the fast UPS shipping we have its going to come in pretty decent in price and fast.

I might need to order stuff cause I need it for the Test and Tune day
