2009 Winter Tire Buys

We have been working early this summer to make sure we get everything in place for the winter tire stuff. As you remember last year we had the deals out early. About 10 people jumped all over it, and others waffled for about a month or two going into October. To everyones surprised, everything sold out everywhere and people got upset. I got 6 emails saying.. "what happend to all the tires, what do you mean they are sold out? why didnt you say so?"

Lets not repeat this, I said back then, tires are going to be in low supply, its a fact. the new Quebec law of manditory winter tires is going to affect the supply of Ontario. So dont be surprised again if the tires sold out first week of Oct. Get them early and get them as soon as possible.

Now since WOW raised a series of questions about the morals of having people buy tires that may potentially be sourced for cheaper elsewhere, let me state the obvious. In a world like this, you source anything for just about any price, and get things cheaper. And no one is holding anyone hostage on how they want to spend their money. If you dont like the tires, fine, if you dont like the price thats fine to. I dont want to hear people saying, well I can just get it here for cheaper.

The main point of this is to source quality tires endorced and used by the club and get them at a great price and installed at the perfered Mitsubishi Dealerships.

Last year you could (if you moved fast enough) get a set of
winter tires, (WinterForce)
16 inch Steel Rims
Install / Balance for about $750 dollars.

No BS, no haggling over the price, just a straight up deal while supplies last.

This year there may be one or two tires added to the line up, but I must say, these Winterforce tires I bought really really work well. And beast of all, after 38,000km + they still look new. The harder compound works wonders in terms of increasing the tread life. It does this at the small expense of ice traction, but makes up for it with the best solution for light or deep snow hands down.

I think the only neg I can say about the Winterforce tires is the hit to fuel economy due to increased rolling resistance, and the road noise. But its winter, your paying for improved handling in snow and ice. So this is something I can forgive and forget.

Stay tuned to this and the second post for price lists and what dealers are participating.

Cheers
