Wow bs!

So I wake up this morning and have a nice pm from Speedlimit saying my Perrin GB thread was deleted since GBs are only allowed for registered venders.

this is a quote from KK (admin back in 2003)

Selling on the Private Classifieds section is meant to allow members to sell private items on EvoM.

If you are using this forum to sell items for profit or as a vendor (this includes group buys), your thread/post will most likely be deleted as it violates our forum rules. If you continue to post such threads, you may be warned by our staff.

Thanks,

Mark

I'm pretty sure I mentioned in my thread that I was making zero money off this but regardless It was still deleted.

Then I wonder why the projector gb, oil gb ect ect.. all went on by none registered venders but yet weren't deleted.

It really ticks me off that I go ahead do all this leg work on my end purely for no money on my end but to help put the rest of the members in this club and this is the thanks I get.

Honestly I even said if there was a problem Will or Shawn please pm me.. did that happen... nope

Like I said why was it being moved because it wasn't official?...

I wouldn't of been as pissed if it was moved but deleted.. Thats the last time I go out of my way for this club thats for sure

If anyone wants to clear this up with me, do it here. I dont want any BS behind the scenes going on.

^Just an FYI,
for my projector GB, I did go through the proper channels and I did talk to Shawn for a long time about it instead of just posting what I wanted to do right away.
Not sure about other GBs though

Thats cool man... But if shawn had an issue I wish he would of spoke with me about it...

I dont see what the problem is if I want to run a gb on something? I dont see why I should need an approval? Obviously if i'm making gbs on fisher price garbage then I can see an issue.

Again if there was a problem I would expect some type of communication, thats all.

to be fair im 100% positive shawn wouldnt have an issue with it, infact he would have no reason to have an issue with it, you are contributing to the community and that can only be good for the club

the issue is that you should have contacted him first and gave him a heads up on your intentions (so he in turn could let the right people know that this is going on and he approves) i know it sounds dumb and believe me i feel the same way, but at evoM they have really strict regulations and guidelines to avoid people who try to run a business off of the forum without prior consent.

If you remember who was interested in the buy, try contacting them and tell them to hang tight.. if you clear up the issue with the proper ppl im sure u can get another thread up in no time

Which is why TOLANCER.com should be our site, not slavemasters evom.

Thanks for your insight... I pm'd the moderator who deleted my thread. will see what Bob says.

I can understand some things need to be run through shawn but really, the guy has so much of his own projects going on, something simple like this should be based on a case by case basis.

The other issue I have is if were being moderatoed by forum rules, why dont they close every dor sale thread that appaears in our section. The rules say you need at least 50 posts to make for sale threads but yet they dont care when it comes to our section...

just frusterating is all.. if they cant bring back my thread in the next few days I'll just tell perrin to forget it

Darn, I made a post to that thread last night, and then it got deleted. (it was a long post too)

To summarize.

* I have no problem with group buys, actually i encourage it. And love it when community stuff comes together.

* Where I do have an issue is when group buys that go forward in the name of the car club are not cleared by myself and other club officers.

* Second, if I allow unvetted group buys to go on (in general) then it leads to another guy thinking he can do the same thing, and since not everyone has the same intentions at heart, it can easily turn into a mess.

Example A) a group buy goes south (bad) and since it has the TLC clubs name on it, guess who ultimately gets the flakkk.

Example B) Group buy organizer A, wants to help out and do a group buy for something that seems like a good cause and does it, while another guy wants to do a different group buy for something else and claims its a good enough cause.

I can come up with a million examples... the point is... You feel frustrated... I hear you, if you go far back enough in my posts you will see that I ran in to the VERY SAME issues. I set up group buys because I wanted to help our local community and I got slapped in the hand. Because I wasnt a Vendor. I got slapped a few times until I said, fine, you want me to be a vendor, Okay I became a vendor. Paid $700 dollars for the vendor status (Six Month term)... not to be a vendor but to have the ability to organize something on evolutionm.net. That was a year ago.

To pick up on the thread "What is the Toronto Lancer Club" I said this before but alot of people dont see the full picture... Here and there I would get the one person saying things like, putting a small charge on things like tires for example is Evil and Sinister. I get questions why cant we just pay the cheapest for what ever the good is. A one time fee charge one a large ticket item is wrong....

Ok fine,, so I retweaked the model and had thing move in away where the club gets nothing directly back in terms of fees its all retained by the vendor and works towards ensuring future group buys are cheaper. lol then I had someone come and tell me thats wrong too. lol By the way a year or two ago a group buy for Winter Force tires was about $750 dollars installed. Now today... if you look at the stickied Winter Group Buy thread, you will see the price is about 700 dollars installed (excluding taxes and eco fees). If you want just the tires and steel rims, it drops to as low as 650 dollars. If you pick it up at the door. And now the fact (for a limited time) you can get this done at a perfered TLC Mitsubishi Dealership I think is amazing...

I am not trying to toot my own horn... cause to be honest with it, I do this mostly to volenteer my idle time. I have other ventures which are my long term strategy. Right now, my only concern is to keep the club revenue neutral and growing.

Are things slow to get moving sometimes, sure... are things fair all the time... probably not... But basically the car club costs the average member nothing. (which some people tell me what they want) but the same people demand everything. (I am not talking about you Turbo Time) but others that raise points about where money goes, etc... etc..

I will be honest... It erks me sometimes because people look at things with so much suspicion when it is as simple as it looks.

Others have come to me asking for group buys and in some cases if they made enough of a good case for it and meet the basic criteria I allow it to be under the TLC banner. In recent times, there were projector (T-pain) group buys or (smoke) oil filter, where a long dialog was started and it finally got going. There were guarantees of quality and protection for the buyer worked out and it was deemed safe.

To make a generalized point. I will say that nothing in this world is free, there is a cost to everything, sometimes its money, sometimes its someones time and effort. but there is always a cost. But in the culture and times we live in, some people looking to buy things, dont seem to be aware of this. What can I say we as a club are not a for profit venture, never have been, cause thats not what its about. But on the flip side of the coin, we are underprovisioned. Very little income to work with. lol actually no income. Most of what goes on here is people shouldering the burden / work. Some cant handle, some can. I am greatful to guys like Infamous, AJ, Rubber Duckey, and others who I have not mentioned. The officers that are active, have skin inthe game because they have gone above and beyond just regular member stuff. and filled in the gaps and holes for our club in certain fields and areas.

I mentioned this before, but Mobil 1 is re commiting itself to help our club grow. Since they liked what they saw with what we did for our dyno day. A great success, we got to test EVO X hardware, and we were able to learn of our Canadian ECU issue. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...round-1-a.html

They are committed to seeing more projects like that go thru. Also they are helping provisioning our club to make us be more stable. Other sponsors in other areas have also pledged to help our car club grow as well. You will be seeing more of them in the weeks and months a head.

If anyone has any ideas and wishes to discuss them with me, send me a PM message, if i dont respond it could be because I am tied up... but remember there are other Officers which can take the feedback or requests. Or if you feel you cant approach one officer speak to another and ask it to remain anonymous. Thats fine too.

But I finally have to say that I am overall happy with Evolutionm's assistance. Not always do we see eye to eye but the have demonstrated that they are willing to listen, and act to rectify issues or problems.

Turbo Time, there is a officers meeting that is going to go down within the next 2 or 3 weeks where we talk about year end projects, dealer relations, and put forward next years goals.
If you would like to have your group buy ideas put forward, pm me as soon as you can and we can get started on putting the proposal together. Some think I have the final say on things, but generally we try to get a consenous among the officers. The only time i step it and trump things, are if it violates rules, or undermines our vendor / sponsors support.

make sense?

Hi,

I understand your questions and appreciate your frustration. We have been restricting group buys by non registered vendor's (for products offered by registered vendors) for several years; when we know about them.

The existing for sale threads shouldn't be in the Canadian forum. The staff simply did not see them. There is a sticky at the top of this forum addressing market place issues. This is a big site and averages over 5,000 new unique posts daily. Some forums are missed and that was the case here. I deleted several FS threads were the OP did not meet our requirements for selling.

I did leave a couple since we are reviewing the interest in a Canadian For Sale forum. Moving them once makes sense. Finally, any question concerning Evom rules/interpretation is best handled by PMing a moderator or supermod. Only a staff member can speak for Evom. Thanks.

Bob..
