isnt it better performance wise to go with a custom catback or something for the same price as just the axelback.

here is the problem with that idea.

design is not tuned or optimize
steel used is generally of lower quality
you are at the mercy of how good the shop is.

bottom line. greddy and other big brands spent millions on production reseach. i would say the major benefit of custom would be sound. since it gives u full control.

diameter is tricky. too large and u murder flow. i spend hunderds of hours test custom applications, and learn the hardway of what helps and hurts flow. its hard to make the perfect set up and make it yeild as much as traditional brand axlebacks.

ckbilly, let me know if your interested I PM'd you. I will make the post below to be a generalized view of my experience with the SE exhaust, so if I go into other things dont think I am talking about you. Just generalized comments mostly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
of the 4 exhausts I have made, and piping variations. The Greddy SE embodies the qualities I like, good low end power, a nice sound that makes your presences felt and heard vs. just hearing a loud noise in the distance. Greddy Learned from their first exhaust the Ti that they put out for the lancer and sounds and design. Its a job well done.
Some say its expensive, and blah blah blah, but if you want your car running with the best performance mods, you have to pay up. Remember, Mitsubishi stuff (excluding the EVO) is expensive because of R&D costs, and limited production costs. To be honest, I blame Mitsubishi with this for bringing forward a 2.4L engine for north america only. Its stupid. Basically a Japan Manufacturer isnt going to make a 2.4L variant of an intake or exhaust or other engine mods specific to the 2.4L because it doesnt even exhaust domestically for them or anywhere else in Asia. Then factor in how many 2.4L equipped Lancers exhaust, the ratio is something like 10 to 1. From an economic stand point its just not practical. If a manufacturer does make something for the 2.4L or at least compatible, there are still R&D costs associated with that. And they are justified in charging a higher price for that additional hard work.
So 550+ Tax is justified for a market price this early in the product cycle. Honestly it is, if you think you are getting ripped off. I challenge you to Identify who it is that is profiting. Other than UPS lol
I'm interested in the Greddy SE exhaust for my '10 GTS (as well as the Injen 2.4L SRI), does anyone know of anywhere in the GTA I can purchase them (or make a special order through)?
I know there are a few sites online from the states (Auto City Imports and Advance Speed Shop both carry them), but I'm hesitant as Customs/Duty always drives up prices pretty ridiculously.
Anyone know anywhere? Or do most of you just order online from the states?
Thanks!
Yeah I saw that post about the Mitsu dealer install, I'd rather do my own install, its more of an enjoyment/learning thing for me at this point. I've done my own car audio installs and some cosmetic stuff in the past so I kinda want to take it up a little bit.
I checked through JRP's inventory (very difficult to navigate site and the search is near useless, lol) but unfortunately they don't seem to carry those two items. I will call them tomorrow and see if they can do orders and find out pricing.
Thanks for your help, and if you know any other GTA (or ordering in Canada companies) let me know
