Buying Tires In The USA

How many of you guys have actually driven down to Buffalo to purchase tires and have them installed down there? Who did you do it with? Did you have any problems when you were coming across the border?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to need new tires this summer. I am looking at Bridgestone RE-11's. The local price here is around $420+tax per tire! However if I buy them on TireRack and have them sent to an installer in Buffalo they come out to $290 per tire.

Obviously you can't ignore a price difference like that. That's over $700 in savings. So I'm just looking to see other people's experiences.

GO ON 3... have you bought and installed tires in the USA before?

It just feels stupid to buy tires for $475 ($420+tax) when you can get the same thing for $290 in the States.

What one of my friends at work did, was went down, got them installed, and just threw out the old tires down there, and just came back and didn't say anything at the border. The only thing is, he didn't order them online, he just went to a shop and bought them and got them installed. If you can get them shipped to a shop, and then installed, I'd do it. Amazing prices down there.

^^ yep for sure!!
I haven't gotten tires from the states but when I buy clothing and stuff I just toss all the recipts and tags out and toss it in my suitcase.
Everything in Canada is over priced. It's bs but so is being taxed 40% of your biweekly pay cheque. Errrrr!!
