Is it too difficult for your friends to look after themselves?

Hrm... I didn't mean to come across as an ***... but I know people who've gone down to the States... got a car and registered it here.

Or KahoX are you looking to basically have your friends say they want "this car"... and have somebody take care of everything and delivered a fully registered and plated car in your friend's driveway?

^ kinda true, there are plenty of guides out there that list all the forms you need to fill and stuff and how many days in advance when driving up the border.

Check out this thread... it was made by people looking for advice on importing EVO's to Canada.

I know the EVO X requires some small bumper part change... what work does the IX's require to get them into Canada?

The IX only needs DRL. The import process is straight forward, quick summary below (I may have forgot something).

1. Find the car (this is the hard part).

2. Get the VIN#.

3. Call a dealer ask them to fax over a copy of the super screen (this works for the recall notice).

4. Pay the RIV fee & fax super screen to RIV.

5. Ask the owner to fax you a copy of the clear title. Fax the title to the USA border you will be crossing at. The USA side needs 3 days to check the paper work (they make sure there's no liens and the vehicle is not stolen). After 3 days you can call the USA side make sure everything is ok.

6. Go pick up your car (Drive it back), stop at USA customs they will check the cars Vin and stamp your paper work. Cross the border, stop at Canada Customs, fill out a form 1, pay 6.3% duty and 5% gst (based on the bill of sale), make sure the form 1 is stamped before you leave. Canada customs may want you to prove the value with a copy of the ad as well as a copy of your payment.

7. Once your receive the RIV inspection form, go to a Cdn tire have the RIV inspection, a safety & etest done (you may need DRL). They will stamp your form 1, give you a safety & etest cert. Take all your paperwork to the licence office, pay 8% pst (in Ontario) and licence fees.

8. Attach your plates and have fun!
