struck a nerv with the evo

Two years of owning the evo....serviced it on time, everytime. After changing my oil two days ago it finally struck me, routine maintaince every 3 months?????? REALLY????? I don't mind paying for them, but seriously I just feel like going so often...the best prices for a type B i got was 160 tax in. (I go to mitsu for service only because it could raise the resell value.) So do all of you go every 3 months? if not where do you guys go and how much does it go for? Since Markham mitsu is now trash, long story short... they have an entire new team and they are retards.

ARGH.

I change the oil every 4K miles because I use Mobil 1, with a Mobil 1 Oil Filter. I go to my mechanic who is an ex-MITSUBISHI Dealer trained mechanic of 14 years. It doesn't matter, but I have an Evo IX-MR and runs trouble-free from new with 71K miles.

I change my oil every 2k or so - M1 with factory filter. Small price to pay for the joy it brings.

If you are worried about resale value just keep the receipts from your oil purchases. Stealerships charge too much to do normal maintenance on cars.

Some do, yes. Our local dealer charges ~$50 for a synthetic oil change. By the time we figure in the cost of the oil and filter, the time and effort to dispose of the oil and to do the job, it's pretty reasonable.

That is actually pretty reseanable for a dealer oil change. The 2 dealers by me are $80 at a minimum and then want you to drop your car off all day to get it done.

Yea, that's a lot. A neighbor was quoted $120 (!) for an oil change on a VW. Absurd.

$160 seems like a lot. I'm paying $99 at Maple. What does the extra $60 do at Markham Mitsu???

Isn't an oil change every 2K kinda excessive? Do you beat on your car a lot?

Sometimes I get jealous of German cars that do oil changes every 15,000kms... My friend with a Mini is pretty much doing oil changes once a year!

I use the car, if that's what you mean. 90% of my driving is non-highway. STM thinks I should (sometimes) change the oil more often.

They rotated my tires + air filter change and topped all fluids...and of course, they changed oil

ninja edit: they also washed my car.

my gf's mini also breaks down once a year....mini's are trash, I wouldn't even bother changing the oil at all if I drive a mini!
