Hey guys. This is very big news. For two years I have battled with both dunlop and mitsu to please change this sp5000m tire for the lancer oem spec. They felt differently and thought it was a great performing tire that meets their oe standards.

Sailun has risen to the challenge and expressed interest in helping the lancer - ralliart - evo community. They are creating a program that I feel is exactly what every lancer gts owner deserves. Proper tires that perform and don't fall short in life and durability. But it doesn't stop there. Sailun wants to hear feed back from evo x owners and lancer 16 inch tire guys too. They are looking to make this an inclusive program nationwide.

Please complete this survey to help sailun create a program that best helps our community.

As soon as we hit over 100 responses or so sailun will finalize this offer. I think we should celebrate with some kind of signing ceremony. Lol

But more seriously this is likely to go down as a huge victory for the average mitsu owner across canada. If this is successful here the program will likely be adopted in the states.

It will be a superior tire by a huge margin.

ailun Atrezzo Z4+AS

The Sailun Atrezzo Z4+AS seems to have Michelin in its design sights. It comes in 1st in ride quality. Everyone praised its gentle ride: tied for 1st in lack of road noise and 3rd in bump absorbing. These are all Michelin strengths.

The Atrezzo has a very sporty aggressive looking tread pattern. But the tire is not a sports tire: it came 5th in the dry and 6th in the wet on the skidpad. Taken on their own, its .833 g-number is quite good. The tire’s tread was just too soft to maintain any high grip load as it heated up. In fact it was better at .840 in the wet, the water probably cooling the tread. In the dry, it was possible to see the hot rubber coming off the tire.

The skidpad was also not kind to this tire with ratings of 3rd in the dry by time and 6th by g-load. This tire is very easy to control. In the wet, not so much, rated at 6th. It just had too much tread squirm.

On the track, it was rated 6th. But fo
r the street, its many good qualities pulled it up to a very solid 3rd place overall, just a hair off first place. At the right retail price, it is a winner among people wanting Michelin-like characteristics. List price is $125, estimated selling price is $96.
Once i test them Ill give you feedback ....................

Is it too late to get into the tire testing ? cause im curious to how these will perform compared to the track stars of AD08's and the Potenza RE-11. for UHP summer tires.

I went on the website and even on their spec sheet it doesn't tell you the compound of rubber they use or if the side walls are reinforced in anyway.

Most new tires now use some form of silica compound to decrease tread wear. Their website is a bit vague on what technology they use in their tires. BTW. that tread pattern looks very familiar to something, but i just can't put my finger on it.

Let me know if you need another tester I will definitely give good feedback as I have driven both of those track tires in an EVO. I'm no track junky but I will give those tires some extensive testing.

My yoko stock tires are wearing out so I will be in the market shortly for most likely the AD08's, but i wouldn't mind testing something in the transition phase.

Not its not to late. we are getting this program off the ground, a few 1 evo and 1 lancer is involved in the snow testing. once that is done by March, we will get into the sprint and summer tire testing. It will be great. Also these tires will feature special compounds specific to our testing. So they will be pretty good on the track.

evo_soul: You are aware for the Evo how amazing the stock Yokohama Advans are right? I would say it would be detrimental to the handling of the car to go swap in the advans for these replacements. The advans are grippy and handle well. Just don't have much life, but what do you expect with a performance car.

When it comes to the testing .....

No one said they are the best tires in the world. But I have seen the test track data. And the proposed changes to the compound. These tires are different than the info you are seeing.

These tires are alternatives to what is currently on the market, but, the feedback given by our group specifically will make its way back to the engineers and tire designers who will then make changes.

Replacement program
This is mostly focused on the lancer and ralliart crowd. But, these second generation tires from sailun will have added traction with the shift in compounds, something they have strived to address. The reason why I am happy about this is because we actually have the ability to help refine a product. To me thats Awesome.

To each their own if they want to buy the tires. there are countless options on the market. The deal with these tires is the fact that the tires are not that expensive at all, and provide good performance. If your looking for an ultra hardcore tire, look elsewhere.
