Reflash ECU

Hey guys,

This is a area I am very new in and would like some local input on where I should go to gain more knowledge in this area. What are some good sites, can this be a DIY project or better left to dyno shops? if so where to go?

This is for a 2010 GTS w/CVT

Many Thanks!

Does an ECU reflash actually do much for your car? I assume you mean like when the EVO/RA guys "flash" a new tune onto their car and gain big power. I think this only really applies to turboed cars tho.

Im not 100% sure but from what I understood from flashing your ecu was to increase your response time through your throttle so you wouldn't have that lag when you step on the gas, its basically another way instead of getting a sprintbooster I think. I could be wrong.

Oh... you want to alter your ECU settings so it has the same effect as installing a sprint booster?

Nope, I mean a tune like works or RPW offer. There are many gains from doing this, but no local support I assume. I did some igging and got it all figured out for what I need. Sprint Booster is on my radar as the tune will come after any/all mods are installed. Thanks !!

If you are successful in getting an ecu tune for that car let me know where I can get it locally as well. I also have a 2010 lancer gts and thinking about flashing, but don't want to hassle looking for those flashing cables lol.

works:
-you have to mail in your ecu to the states for a week or so.
-ive heard recently that works is starting to offer email tunes so you can do it yourself given that you know your stuff and have the gear to do so.

rpw:
-mail ecu flash.
-takes about 3 days - 1 week depending on demand.
-also diy given that you have the gear and know what to do.
-cheaper too.

rpw gives about 10hp more or less for a stock 2.0L, with advance timing, mivec remapping, fuel remapping, higher redline, etc.

the 2.4L should see some considerable gains for a NA. since stock is running a little low for its displacement.

If someone is doing the flash somewhere in toronto, I would be happy to split the costs for cost saving and time to set things up.

I'm a ways off from doing this as I have some more "bolt on's" to enjoy before I take the leap into a "Tune" but I was to stay proactive and do the homework needed for such a task.
