Hopefully you pleaded not guilty on the ticket and proceeded to set up a court date...you should never ever plead guilty or guilty with an explanation.

The process to getting your ticket reduced is quite hilarious!
I got clocked at 80kph in a 55kph zone (didn't realize it dropped from 60kph) in York region after having my RA for exactly 1 week. This would of meant a few points dinged and a $90 fine (I think).
I'm sure the process would be similar in Peel/Durham as York considering we're all under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
What I did after sending in the ticket with a not guilty plea was called the court office (Newmarket in my case) and asked the clerk if the ticket was registered into their system yet. Once it was, I proceeded with setting up the First Attendance meeting with the prosecuter.

Its basically on a first come first serve basis. You go early in the morning to sign your name on the list to meet the prosecuter (there are only 2 morning sessions, at least in the Newmarket court). Once called in, the prosecuter said to me "I'll drop your fine to $60 with no points, the speed infraction to 15kph over the limit...is that alright..." Of course I agreed! I went outside and waited to meet the justice of the peace. Once called in she asked me if I "plead guilty to the new charges..." Once again I agreed of course! Signed the form and went outside to pay. Throughout the whole process I didn't say one sentence!!

I doubt you can avoid getting points dinged because you we're going so fast, but definitely worth a try as you will get it dropped. The key to remember is that the court system will want to avoid going to court as the costs them alot too.

Regarding showing the radar gun...I had talked to a few of those traffic ticket places before doing it on my own and all mentioned that there is no law requiring the police to show you the radar reading. Additionally any "minor" error on your ticket will not necessarily get the ticket thrown out. The street I had got caught was mispelled on the ticket. The error must be quite substantial.
I would try the First Attendance route first and then perhaps go to those traffic ticket places.

Good luck!
