OPP Trouble

Long story short, just took my evo out from a little winter rest.
took it to work on a nice day last week, was going to get my sticker the following day and a nice oil change! Got pulled over on the HWY on my way to my new place I just moved into a week ago, knew I was going to get a ticket for the sticker, was a chick cop,, not so goodlooking.. told her my story, she told me she cought me doing 157km, and clocked it @ 146... I said there was no way and that I was in the slow lane doing 100km maybe 110 @ max

20 min later:
got 3 tickets,
-143 over in a 100zone
-no sticker
-lack to not change my new address

***in BS!!! I was so pissed off that night and the following day, worst part is I have or had a clean record and now I got $600 worth of tickets and 4 points for the speeding alone,,, Im going to fight it but besides thats beside the fact.. this lady is a B*#^& and she knows damn right she pulled me over after seeing my Evo then seeing all my info after she punched my plate in the system

If she has you on radar and there is more then 2 cars on the road (you and someone else travelling fast) then you got that beat. If its on laser.................. your done.

As for the sticker, your gonna eat that one.

The change of address, how does she know you moved? Did you tell her you moved? Or did she compare your licence/ownership to your insurance card? Basically how did it come about that you moved? She looked at your Drivers licence and the addy was different on your ownership (assuming since you haven't renewed it?)

What's the other info, on your plate? PM- if need be.

There has to be another reason why she singled you out.

Write down as much info as you can remember.

Where you saw her first, direction of travel, time (on ticket), location of sun, weather (drizzle, snowing clear?), road conditions (wet, dry, slush), other vehicles around you (similar color cars), was she wearing sunglasses when she approached you (if so, what kind?), etc........... write down a synopsis of what happened in as much detail as possible.

That't the best advice I can give you.

If you move, under the Highway Traffic Act, you must notify the ministry within six days of changing your residential address. (link)

If you can prove that this was day 6, or argue that you thought it was 6 business days, or even 7 days, then you can get this tossed.

Sticker...that is your fault, but if you were "on your way to get the sticker", then the judge may have lenience, especially if you did buy the sticker that day (did you?)

Note that for both of the above, you can go to any Service Ontario office, or kiosk, the latter is available 7 days a week, so it is hard to argue. The reality, though, is this all hinges on the speeding ticket. As that is the only serious charge of the 3, this appears to be a chance for the cop to pile on the tickets, hoping something will stick. This usually goes into a bargain, of dropping the first 2 and keep the last one, which is by far the worst situation for you, as the first 2 have no bearing on insurance.

I'm a little confused though....how did she catch you at 157, but clock you at 146? Was one by pace, the other by radar? That makes no sense...if I were in her boots, seeing a person in a hot sports car, modded up, doing in excess of 50 over, without a proper sticker or proper address, I'd have hit you with HTA172. Something smells more than a little off about this alleged speeding charge.

Either way...good luck to you! FIGHT THAT SPEEDING TICKET!! DON'T LET IT STICK!!

Good info and thanks guys!

I wouldnt make a thread and tell you guys about this if I was cought speeding! Im telling you this bc I wasnt at all! and just a heads up for you guys,, watch your speed and watch for these chick cops, always trouble
as for my record, its clean
as for the sticker, its my fault!! my DD is a POS and not running well, and it was nice out so I took the Evo! This is the first car under my name and my dad use to get me the sticker ect. so guess that was my mistake! I did get it the next morning!
I got pulled over around 10:00pm, just heading home from work! was very dark out and was on the 403 right before my exit!
I have no ide where she came from, just remember some one up my *** so far I couldnt even see the headlights, moved into the next lane and she stuck to me like glue,, I tapped the brakes she then backed up a little, then BAM noticed the headlights and knew it was a cop!
30 sec later the lights go on and I pull over on my off ramp!

I still live at my parents as my condo isnt fully finished,, I have a bed and TV and most furniture in but still waiting for the rest of my stuff!
The cop asked where I was going and I said Home, she asked where and I said right up the rd, just bought a new condo, she asked who lived in Georgetown "my licence info" I said its my parents house... BAM ticket I even told the lady I just got the car out of storage today and was getting the sticker tomorrow as I work afternoons

but Ill give you guys a heads up, I have some one fighting this for me!
and thanks again guys!!

Was it OPP or Peel Police??? Peel Police seem like the type of people to do that... I've seen them bait people into tickets before.

sorry, but what sticker are you referring to? the license plate one?
was it expired or u didnt have one?

if it was just expired...renew it and take it to "court".
once they see that u renewed they throw out the ticket at the pre-court meeting.
no biggie.

I would be careful how you phrase your comments.. I personally know a few guys in peel (great guys I will add) and hope to join them in the next few months pending everything goes through smooth..

I understand some cops take advantage and abuse their rights so to speak but generalizing a complete region is insulting.

Well turbotime... I apologize if I insulted you... or feel I disrespected your friends on the Peel Police Force. I also hope that you are part of the good folks who will help out the community... as it sounds like you would.

Let me ask you tho... what are your thoughts on GO ON 3's situation? What do you think about a police officer racing up to some one from behind... tail gating them so he can barely see his headlights. Mirroring lane changes he does before finally pulling him over... and then giving him tickets for things he claims he didn't do?

Once again... I don't mean to insult you and your friends... but it's interesting to hear your response.

actually im not sure it was super dark out,, I also know a few cops, and doesnt matter what section their in that can be ****** or good at their job,,, what happend here was just a ***** ***** move, there wasnt many people at all on the hwy and everyone doing the speen limit!
she was trying to put the book on me bc she was prob on the rag!

alot of people that get some power they change! reason alot of cops cant keep their marriage, and I only say that bc its a known fact,,, I wanted to become a cop, after having alot of trouble becoming a firefighter like my big bro.. but that doesnt change the way I feel about some cops! esp 4 yrs ago coming out of a club and there was a fight and a bunch of cops watching, then I got sucker punched and looked back and it was a cop, long story short I got beat up by 4 cops and very bloody... doesnt make me like them any more lol

as for the sticker it was exspired feb 18th my B day.. but again My car was parked for the winter and ya my fault, just ran into bad luck!
